Hiya-drangea

My fave thing in card making is getting inky.  This week I received this stamp as a prize from Beautiful Blossoms and couldn't wait to use it.  Thanks again Donna & team, see their work and join the challenge here: beautifulblossomschallenge .

I ink blended the background panel with JuiseyArt hybrid inks, then misted it with water to get a lovely mottled effect.   The stamp is an AALL&Create collage stamp called Hiya-drangea.   I used a water-lift technique to lighten the leaves so they stood out from the background, and highlighted the flowers with WoS gold for subtle sparkle.  The border punch is a really old one from Martha Stewart (among one of my first punches I think) just to 'ground' the picture, finished with a presentation bow at the neck of the flower.  The inks are five colours including 2 purples, 2 blues, and seagreen on the left bottom which hasn't photographed well.

I didn't fuss with it too much it is beautiful just as it is.  I reckon it will be quite versatile as I can stamp just the sentiment, and maybe fussy cut the flower.  The flower looks a bit like a topiary tree.

CAS Sketch Tree Circles

CAS and a sketch.  Yes, tree circles not crop circles!

I used scraps/snippets of left over inked card to diecut the circles, misted them with Ranger Perfect Pearls.  The circles have different edge finishes, deckle, stitched, dotted. Sentiment is stamped and heat embossed in Zing hot pink EP.  Tiny diecut trees from my Bitz Box complete the simple scene.

Skate Wild

I really have tried this in days gone by with my kids.  Now I enjoy watching grandchildren skateboarding - it is a great physical activity, is fun, costs little, is portable and can be done almost anywhere.  It's like surfing without getting wet!

CAS style.  The black shape is the negative of a diecut shape, with patterned paper placed underneath.  The patterned paper is kind of like graffiti.  I like shapes that go off the page.  A small sentiment is all it needed, cut to an irregular shape and popped up a bit.  Orange dots drop-outs saved from other diecuts  embellished, and give a feeling of lift I think.

CAS circles sketch

CAS, one layer card.  I like the colour softness and Venn-diagram-type overlaps that make other colours.  Inspired by a sketch challenge.

Ranger Distress Ink blending using the holes as stencils, of circles diecut from a piece of card.  Stamped gold embossed sentiment.  Definitely Clean And Simple.

Narwhal Thinking

We want to see animals as the focus - whether real or fantasy!

Blue is my favourite colour; who would have guessed?

I have been digging in my Bitz Box again, finding the diecut frame (I think sent to me by someone else), which inspired the sea theme.  The school of tiny fish is stamped swimming right across the background, then the frame added.  The narwhal is stamped, coloured with Copics, misted with Perfect Pearls (see the sparkle in the detail pic), fussy cut and popped up on foam.  Simon Says Stamped sentiment embossed in silver.
