Quilts for Ukraine. The news there is heartbreaking and I found this on Kiwiquilters facebook page and decided it was something I could do to make a tiny bit of difference in the world. Maybe you know someone who wants to join in? (sorry, I don't know how to make the black disappear).
UKRAINE
Calling my friends
worldwide: I will start a project, collecting blocks in 8 1/2"( seam
allowance included), colors: blue/yellow ( Ukrainian flag), techniques:
everything is allowed... I will sew and quilt one or more quilts ( depending on
how many blocks I will receive), donate them to refugees ( children?) from
Ukraine coming to Europe or whatever the future will lead me to. I am soooo
absolutely devastated about the news that I want, no... I need to do something
and the only thing I can do is quilt and ask for peace!

Thank you, let´s go Blue/Yellow!
Someone has said the postage is horrendous, but I made three blocks which fitted into a business style envelope and only cost NZ $3.70 to post.
The sunflower is the national flower and sunflower oil one of the main exports of Ukraine. I thought it may help someone smile. I hope to make more blocks too.
Wonderful and thoughtful too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea Carol, heaven help these people.xx
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are so beautiful and for such a good cause -although rather they were not needed!

Wonderful work Carol, and fabulous use of the colours. A very practical way to express you empathy with the Ukrainians

What a wonderful thing for that gal to do. Making quilts for those in need, especially when people from all over the world can contribute, is just brilliant. So glad you could play along. Lots of wonderful work here, and great take on the challenge. Thanks so much for playing along over at The Mod Squad, hope to see you back again soon. I always look forward to your beautiful creations.
