Washi Pink

 

Inspired by challenges using washi, which, of course, are now expired.  This is one of those products that, for me, are out-of-sight-out-of-mind.  Time I used them.

The label die and doily die are both Couture Creations.  Three washi in pinks, a gold embossed sentiment stamp (Grace Taylor - really really old, and I don't think I've ever used it before) onto a diecut label from cArt, gold pearls.  A breakfast tray and flower from stash.  Tiny diecut hearts with Ranger Stickles.   Gosh, time I used lots of stuff I have forgottten about.

Watercolour Three Buds

 

I have been dabbling in watercolour painting lately; here is one of them.

HM Appled Mouse

 

HouseMouses are so cute and they are always getting into mischief.

This House Mouse image is from a CD about 18 years old that I got in the UK through Joanna Sheen, and I have coloured it up more using Copics.    The pretty patterned paper is from stash.  The panel is backed with a leafy diecut from Sizzix and popped up on 3D foam.  The senti is diecut from the leftover strip and matted onto an orange shadow diecut to match the orange base card. Highlights with white gel pen.  

I think the leafy paper makes it look like he is in the orchard getting dropped apples ... just waiting for the wasps to arrive ...

Tree Leafy

 

A salute to nature.

The black panel has a border scored around the edge for a frame.  The white panel is stamped (Whispers Docraft) and laid over a inked diecut panel (Couture Creations).  Ranger Distress inks.

Parrot Pieced

 

Yesterday I received this sizzix die in the mail and of course I had to try it out straight away.  I have made two cards, here is the first - I will save the other for later, it is quite different.

The die is all in one piece so I had to work out the best way to use it.  Firstly I diecut a whole die in white card, then diecut in parts from snippets of patterned paper, trimmed to shape and reassembled it onto the white card diecut.   The background is a Cuttlebug EF with inked edges; the parrot die is Sizzix.  I purposely left off a sentiment so I could use it for any occasion.

.. and here we are with this brightly coloured parrot sitting in it's flowery leafy bower.

Find Joy

 

I made this for our NZ cardswap.  This "pivot & flip" fancy fold was the feature chosen for the swap.  I must say I did not enjoy making this fold.

I used one of my favourite paisley papers as the basis for the scheme, with a coordinating purple marbled paper and a dotty blue paper which were the main colours in the paisley.  The base card fold is light purple hessian textured card.

I added leafy diecuts (Couture Creations) in two shades of purple and a beautiful gold repurposed heavy wrapping paper plus some gold dots which are drop-outs from dies.  On the 'wings' I added sayings which I hope will be uplifting/encouraging.  

On the back I made a purple panel (Joanna Sheen diecut with 3D Kindyglitz centres) to tie in with the front, and a panel to write a message on with a gold leaf attached.

Get well

 

CAS a simple message to get well, hopefully it would bring a smile.  Inspired by the challenge sketch (see below).

A scored border on the base card.  The bandaid die (My Favorite Things) cut in various pinks, includes the tiny hearts.  Sentiment white heat embossed.  All popped up on foam tape.

Waterscape

 A scenic card suitable for bereavements;  I seem to be needing a lot of these lately.  

My own painting with watercolours on watercolour paper, touched up with Inktense Pencils.  I love this stamped sentiment from Taylored Expressions.  Base card is dark blue.

Dotty Deer

 

Masculine? I reckon.

Fab dotty p.paper, stamped embossed senti, diecuts galore.  I think the deer is Sizzix/TimHoltz, but I can't find it now (maybe I gave it away?), stamped dotty speckles on it's back.  Layers, layers, layers. Kraft colour using repurposed manilla folders.

Downhill Birthday

 

Such a fun image (I'm sure none of us look like that, but sometimes I feel like that), and a bit snarky.  Gotta love those bunny slippers.

Art Impressions image stamped, coloured with Copics and fussy cut.  The background paper (which has some sparkly stripes) has edges inked with DI's, and a downhill slope of coordinating card.  It's like a bit of carpet for her to stand on. The happy face has a dot of Glossy Accents.  All from stash.

Purple Moment

 

Shades of purple, very calm.  I seem to have been working in purple lately, what is that about?

The background is a coverplate panel die, a great way to add interest without being fussy.  The circle is a die cut with sentiment diecut to match using Spellbinders.  Lots of strips/snippets of purple with differrent textures, and a cute star I found in my Bitz Box.

Welcome to the Neighbourhood

 

Inside says "... to say welcome to the neighbourhood".  A new someone moved in last week - this is for them.

I stamped the house which is in two bits, then swiped a versacolor cube of dark green along the bottom to look like grass. The sentiment (Finnabar) is stamped directly, as is the heart coming out of the chimney.

Joy Easel

 

This is for a friend called Joy it's her birthday soon.  I know she will love the House Mouse.

I used a side opening card as the base.  The image is House Mouse.  The patterned paper has frosty glitter on some of the flowers, and I used blue double sided Cuttlebug card for the circle and mats.  The Cuttlebug card has two shades of the same colour and that meant the circle looked good from the other side too.  The diecut circle was stamped with Versamark ink in a random dotty pattern and embossed with Stampendous Stardust glitter EP.  The HOuse mouse stamp is coloured with Inktense coloured pencils with white gel pen highlights.

For the stopper I used a brad and punched a flower (Martha Stewart), I put little dots of white gel pen on the brad and centre of the punched flowers to match the image flower.  Stickles is added to the sprigs of greenery.  It really does sparkle.

Apple of My Eye

 

I've had this cute stamp for years and still like it, it has such a joyful feeling.  It also has options for what to put in the basket, here I've used apples.  It also has shamrocks, hearts etc.

The stamp set is Sugar Pea, coloured with Intense coloured pencils.  I like using these because I can have it on my lap and colour in front of tv.  When I stuck the image on, I used foam tape at the top  behind the apples to make them pop up.  The base card is iridescent and looks great with this gingham patt.paper which is diecut raggedy, using the same die set for the sentiment.  A stamped sentiment is from a different stamp set, added some white pen highlights and a snippet of glittery bow.  The dots are dropouts from a die, I love using them, and they don't get damaged in the mail.

Whimsy Stamps stamp is coloured with Copics with detail, fussy cut, popped up on foam tape.  The EF background is a magazine freebee, a large square EF cut down to size.
