For a sick chicky.

White base card is embossed.  Wine coloured band is embossed and sanded, black band punched.  Image printed and coloured with Reno pens (ruffled feathers and all!), then cut out and attached with dimensional foam.  Sentiment stamped, punched and attached with very deep dimensional foam.

I hope the positive colours and cheery message inside will perk up the sick chick.

Be Bright

Challenge:Newsprint, Anything Goes


A gorgeous woman digi-stamp coloured with Reno pens ... don't you love the matching hair styles?  Couldn't resist - that's really what led me to colour them blue! 

Newsprint (a page from a very boring book) adhered to card then diecut into a frame.  The frame is smooshed with gray ink to minimise contrast and neutralise the yellowing, then red & blue distress inks stamped over.  Blue hair is covered with Glossy Accents.  Sentiment stamped in the blue ink and stapled across bottom.  Adhered to red embossed card with dimensional foam, then onto white base card.  Sequins to balance the sentiment.

Printed digi-image, coloured with Reno pens, ladybug has Glossy Accents over.  Punched decorative corners, matted onto pink card.  Dotty BPaper corners rounded, punched white border, with pink organza ribbon strip overlay and pearls.  Heated organza bow. Kindyglitz on wings, Stickles on flowers and antenna.

Lonely Tree

Sketch: Lonely Tree; Anything goes


Embossed cream base card, rubbed over raised bits with versamark ink, then clear embossed.  Spritzed with three shades of glimmermists.  Stamped a lonely leaf, coloured with Reno pens, then covered with Glossy Accents.  Stamped sentiment.

It reminds me of those misty mornings in autumn.

Bust out the Flags

Flags; Monochromatic.

Starting with the purple paper:  I stamped the torn-look hole using black ink.  Then I stamped again on rubbish paper which I used as a mask for a bleach technique (actually using toilet cleaner instead of ink) with a HeroArts background newsprint stamp.  I cut the middle out and stamped the sentiment on white card.  I stamped flags on white card and glued them to cord with knots on either end to hang from.  Matted the whole thing onto black card, then onto a white base card.  I like the 3D-ish look of the torn centre, and the colours go well together too.

Embossed black card with star folder, smooshed with versamark ink & dusted with silver EP.  Diecut star and polaroid frame from black card, stamped sentiment and silver embossed.  Stamped image and title, set into frame.  Coloured lips only with pen.  Added brad stars & gem 'lights', adhered frame with dimensional foam to embossed stars and ten to red base card.

I hope whoever ends up with this feels like a star!

Orange textured card diecut with star, and bottom panel.  Stripe placed on black backing card under star and orange card fixed over top with 3D dimensional foam.  Another star with sentiment printed on computer, diecut  and placed in the hole using dimensional foam.  A panel of stripe bp then cut to place in gap at bottom, wrapped and tied with black cord.  Whole piece adhered to white base card.  A metal star attached to bow.

I like the drama these colours make.

Happy birthday Chrissie.

I made this design from the little "fall-out" pieces from a diecut ( I hope they count as snippets!).  They were lying on my desk haphazardly while I was working on the real diecut, and I thought that's so pretty ... hmm ... and here is the result.

Bronze metallic card and black card bits firstly arranged in very tight formation like a gift, with birthday sentiment stamped on top, then the explosion of bits from the box! Three of the bits are doubled with 3D foam for dimension.  All arranged on a piece of light card I had 'bubbled' with dishwash liquid and paint.

Vintage ticket

I started with the vintage car sticker, stamped the sentiment over.  Decided to mat with white (seems to make kraft look fresh somehow), then onto kraft card, with punched border.
Printed the tartan paper download, matted kraft card on with 3D foam.  Vintage ticket is download print trimmed and cut with postage stamp scissors on the ends, stapled on to hang over the edges.  Three brass sticker studs added.  All on black base card.

Isn't this manly?  The tartan reminded me of the rugs they used to carry in those old cars.

143 water; July Chick; Creature
I stencilled the base card then heat embossed it using Judikins Black Diamond.  The digistamp is from From The Heart Stamps and is coloured with Reno pens (don't you love the bubbles in her drink?).  I wanted a tag shape so diecut the end of the tag for a feminine touch and tied an organza bow.  Sentiment is made on the computer and diecut with X-cut speech bubbles, mounted with 3d foam.
Birdbrain Chick looks so relaxed right now, but it wouldn't surprise me if she floated all the way to Australia!

Shabby Roses

Challenge Flower




I made these shabby roses after watching a you tube video on flower making, using the ribbon rose technique.  I used torn strips of calico for two and cotton crochet lace for the third one, putting them together with a hot glue gun (what a mess I made! and the burnt fingers... ouch).  The base card is light cream, embossed.  The sentiment label and squares are  die-cut in a slightly darker cream card.  Sentiment stamped in Versafine Smoky Gray for softness.  A heated triple bow in soft green organza ribbon with pearls to finish.

This is not one to post because of it's thickness, but would be lovely given in person.

flowerpot

Get in Shape card.

This flowerpot pocket card looks so pretty. 

The flowers are from a digital pre-printed file for another kind of project, but works really well for this.
I made the flower pot by partly embossing with a basketweave EFolder, and swiping over with white chalk ink and brown pigment ink to highlight the weave.  The card is folded in two and a half panels with one edge of the half panel punched.  It is cut into a flowerpot shape, sides taped, then decorated with a ribbon band, foliage, and cut out flowers.  A toning butterfly with kindyglitz dusting on it's wings added.  The garden label is diecut and handwritten on. 


The Insert card is shaped to fit, then the rest of the flowers added with a  ribbon bow tied through a punched hole in the top (for easy pulling out).  A packet of pansy seeds goes in the pocket as well.
I watched a youtube tutorial, and then just customised it for me.

I embossed some kraft card with bricks, swiped brick & black distress ink over to highlight.  Diecut the cat and the word.  Used an embossing pen to mark the cats eyes, and Versamark ink for the word; heat embossed both with Judikins Black Diamond EP.
Assembled on cream base card, with cat attached using 3D foam.

I have made the sketch upside down with the sentiment on the other side, because the cloud background cardstock had marks that needed covering in strategic places, and I didn't have any more.

Background cloud paper from stash.  Two Bugaboo digistamps, coloured with Reno pens.  Diecut cloud with computer printed sentiment.    White pen highlights on glass, straw, cherry, sunglasses.  Washi coloured band to match her drink!  Kindyglitz on rim of glass and for her drink.

Circles

These are all colours of the NZ Paua.
The base card is black, diecut and hinged at the top.  The green mulberry paper is torn, the NZ paua (like abalone) patterned bPaper is diecut.  All layered together with beautiful varigiated organza ribbon in the same shades.  I embossed then diecut the sentiment into an oval just to offset against the circles while retaining the roundnesses.  Gems in Paua colours to finish.

Shaping up

Shape cards

I like to think of this as a Dame Edna Everage boot - don't you think it would go nicely with her glasses?  

I was given this shape in a drawing, so used it as a template.  Stamped a flourish all over the boot using several shades on the stamp to get texture and variation, also on the circular sentiment tag.  Added trim to the ankle part hinge; applied double sided tape along the sole and pressed on purple glitter.  Then (inspired by Cinderella) decided to use up all those humungous gems that never seem right on cards... but were perfect for this one.  Added smaller gems to ends of flourishes.
My little granddaughters love this.

I wanted 'dusty' looking silver embossing .. it took me three tries before I got it just right and starry looking.

Gosh I wish this was me!  Instead Here I am with the cold, wind and rain in the middle of winter.  Still it's something to look forward to - just think, this'll be me on holiday in December or January.

Fave Colour

This week my fave colour is ... I don't know what to call it!  Smoky blue? Murky-blue green?  Greyed teal?  Duck egg?  I love greyed-off colours, so restful.  I must admit my favourite colour does change a bit like the weather.  Usually in the blue range though.

I matted a tone on tone patterned backing paper with the little hummingbird onto a paler shade card and then onto a white base card  (this colour goes just as nicely with a cool pale cream).  Two patterned papers diecut and layered.  Fancy diecut ends and bottom label are in the same plain card.

Bingo: circle-border-three layers

I have enjoyed the Christmas in July week at Bugaboo Stamps and discovered summer Christmas images.  Most companies have only snowy northern images and sentiments which just don't fit the picture with our hot December celebrations when it's too hot to eat and a cool drink is the answer.

The white base card is embossed with Christmas words, and the green border is patterned paper with Christmas words. The circle is diecut  in black and layered over. 

For Santa I made two images, One I matted with black, coloured with Reno pens, then added Martha Stewart crystal glitter to the hat.  From the other one I cut the tiny umbrella and his nose and beard to raise 3D with foam.  The sentiment is made on the computer then diecut into a speech bubble and attached with 3D foam.  Sequins added for festiveness.  Cheers Santa.

I used a bugaboo image coloured with pens.  Embossed white card, punched holes, threaded bakers twine and gold cord and tied on charms/bells (they actually work).  A touch of Kindyglitz on the stars, then matted onto green card.

Birthday princess

Mojo 406 sketch

I started this one inspired by the bright floral strip.  I tried it on a white base card and it was ok... but on a black base card it looks fabulous (it's actually brighter than the photo shows).  Base card embossed with Docrafts Primrose.   The coordinating papers found themselves, so it was just a matter of getting the proportions right.  I know on the die the letters all line up, but I like things a little different so just dropped the D and added a wonky crown and a bit of a flourish as well.  There you go, fit for a princess.

Even more fishy

Let's Colour; One layer masculine.

One layer and masculine card, and colour.  I had to do this one again as I didn't realise the whole thing had to be one layer, not just the front.   Anyway here it is ...   and the photograph is not so good, but it is very early in the morning here and this one is just using artificial light.

The base card is masked and sponged with six shades of distress inks.    The Fishy stamp is Inkadinkadoo, covered with Glossy Accents.  Clean and simple, I think anything more would ruin it.

snowman melt in progress

Christmas in July photo challenge


I decided Snowy would like to spend Christmas holidays at the Bay of Islands in NZ, so I used a real photo from one of our Christmas holidays as the background.  Snowy is a Stampendous stamp that you can mould to any shape you want, hence I made a melting look - because he forgot to put on the sunscreen!!!!  I stamped him on the printed photo, then again on white card.  I drew then paper pieced his board shorts (aren't they gorgeous?),  used a free stamp for the sunglasses (embossed on black card) and stuck nose with 3D foam.  I also drew his sunhat, but his friend, the tiny bird, is part of the Stampendous set.  His nose is coloured with Reno pens, stamped sentiment is Technique Tuesday.  White base card embossed with Sizzix 'Rays'.  Needless to say with all the fine sunny weather it ended up being a very short holiday for Snowy.

Sketchy Birthday

AS you know, I like unfussy cards.  I thought this sketch would make a good mancard, nice simple design and strong shapes.

Striped backing paper in various bright colours (but because the lines are so thin, they don't look as bright).  A diecut tab in black with metal stick-on dots. Main area in blue has corners rounded and inked, stamped sentiment (Verve Stamps) in black aid over a torn dotty washi strip.  The diecut car (Tim Holtz) is in thick grey card and roughly swiped with white Versamagic chalk ink so the original colour still shows through.

Wet sunshine

It depends on your attitude.  I have always favoured red umbrellas myself as they make me feel so cheerful in the rain ... and as we are in the middle of winter we have already had a lot of rain.  A spot of colour in a drab day works magic.

Bugaboo digistamp coloured with Reno pens, cut around the umbrella and with rounded bottom corners.  Backing paper was given to me by a friend and I don't know where it is from, but isn't it fabulous?  Stamped sentiment is HeroArts using only part of the line.  Clear pearly sequins added.  As you can see I like un-fussy cards.

Well Stella, there's good, and there's GOOD !

Digi stamp from Bugaboo (I just added lipstick, which I'm sure Stella would never be seen without), coloured with Reno pens.  Punched corner.  Diecut tag from olive linen card, black reinforcer, tied with sparkle gold ribbon.  Sentiment printed on the computer, then the Stella-ism added by hand.  All put on the tag, and a border of sparkling gold stars added.  Lime green dotty paper matted to black base card and tag affixed with 3D foam.  Gems added for festivity.

Furry fuzzy

This bear clear stamp was given to me, but I'm not sure what brand it is.  I stamped with Versafine black ink and coloured it with Reno pens.  I used another stamp on the hat, and stamped & coloured a balloon for the tiny bird to hold.  The red balloon is diecut and stamped. The green frame is diecut Memory Box stitched rectangles, and the white card backing is embossed with cupcakes.  I like the simple clean look, and am pleased that the bear came out fuzzy looking.

Girlie challenge:  Didn't we all love to dress up when we were little girls?  Hey, nothing's changed since then.





I made a folded base card with front flap. Stamped image on white card then coloured with Lyra watercolour crayons.  Pink dots on dress were made using eraser on end of pencil as a stamp inked with pink.  Kindyglitz for sparkle.  Diecut labels using spellbinders, layered with 3d foam.  Card lined with patterned paper.    Punched circle with sentiment stamp. Purchased flower and gem.

Challenges: Christmas in July. 
Here is Chris Moose, and in pacifika colours too!

The navy mat supports a paper with glazed dots in all the colours of the challenge. The diecut turquoise tag is embossed, inked and cut to fit the shape of the card.  A navy reinforcer added and ribbon tied through.  The wreath is diecut with enamel dotty centres and overlaps the image.  Image coloured with Reno pens.  Kindyglitz added to snowflakes, and a silver brad.

Of course, if you live in the south pacific the colours are the colours of our mid-summer Christmas with the greenery and sea and sky!  Colours that help you stay cool.

A little bit fishy

One Layer, Make Your Mark


I don't ever mind doing masculine, but One Layer Cards?  Gosh these are hard to do... I am so used to using my glue, where do I start?
I masked off the top and bottom of the white card and blended distress inks along it.  Stamped fish over with black ink then Glossy Accents over the fish (that soon took care of my glue withdrawal).  Matted onto black then green base card.  I think this is just about the quickest card I ever made!  Mind you, it took me several tries to get the colour band how I wanted it.
My son-in-law is a fisherman, he will like this one.

Mojo405 Au revoir

I love to do sketches and mancards... although it isn't strictly a man card and could be for anyone going away.

Kraft card embossed (Darice Travel Icons), swiped over with black ink.  Grey print paper cut diagonally.  Washi tape along join.  Tag cut from cream parchment card, reinforcer added, then stamped with foreign writing (DesignObjectives All Aboard Postmark) in white chalk ink (sorry, hardly shows).  Sentiment stamped over in navy ink (Hampton Art), tied with hemp string.  Tiny envelope (Papermania Travel Print) stamped in navy on kraft card, metal heart added.

Hubby & I are learning French at the moment so am keeping my eyes open for French language stamps.
