HM Umbrella Fun

Don't these mice have all the fun?  Go to housemouse-challenge to see what they're up to.  The option this time is WATER - even more fun!

I watched youtube videos on how to use laminators to foil (including Jennifer McGuire) followed all the instructions, tried different brands of foil, but still couldn't get a good result.  This is the best one using versamark ink through a stencil, EP and foil.  It looks distressed which I really like.

I like the cool blues with a pop of contrast colour.  The umbrella is double thick, the sentiment is triple thick.  The mice & umbrella are on foam tape.  Dots of stickles on the tops of some waves.

Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday). Have a look...

The prompts this week are: Space, Front yard quarterly, Mark, Abstract, Your Choice.  Here goes ...

Space:  This week Ian received his disability parking tag, so here is a photo of the disability parking space at the clubhouse.

Front Yard (quarterly): our front yard is about 2 metres wide - hopefully in three months this will look quite different as the plants start to grow ...

Mark:  X marks the spot on this bottle of wine.

Abstract:  one of our drink coasters with an artwork by Joan Miro, a souvenir from when we were in Barcelona.

Your choice:  this is a little cameo view of our neighbour's garden, so pretty.

Denise's Bouquet

I made this in large format A5 size as a group signing card for Denise who has organised a 2-day garden tour for the villagers down through the King Country, across National Park and back up through Bay of Plenty.   It sounds as if some great food is involved as well.   The tour is at the end of October.  I thought a bouquet was appropriate for a garden tour.

I stamped and embossed the flowers in white EP and coloured using Distress Inks as watercolours.  Sentiment and edges embossed in silver.  I stamped the envelope using the same floral stamp using coloured inks in soft colours to coordinate with the card.

Stamp flowers: Simon Says

Sentiment: Simon Says

Also: White EP, Silver EP, Distress Inks (watercoloured), pearls, WoS on magnolia, pewter ribbon

Welcome House

I love silver and blue together; I used silver metallic card for the house and the keys and the background mat.  The blue is leather grain card - what a great texture.  I put yellow card behind the house to show the lights are on.  The little metallic red heart is part of the house die, I just trimmed the house off.  The keys are stacked to give dimension; the house is embossed with brick.

Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday). Have a look...

The prompts this week are: Lush, Weather Quarterly, Picturesque, starts with I, Your choice.

Lush:  The grass is green, the sun is riz, I wonder where the birdies is?  Lovely spring growth, the grass is lush and springy, new leaves on some trees and sunshine (it's spring here in NZ).

Weather (quarterly):  Our prevailing weather comes from the south west, as shown.  Today is the Spring Equinox so I thought the turbulent sky would be good.  It rained mightily last night and more is on the way. The temperature is 22 deg C, so lovely after the winter and warm enough to eat outside.  (Taken from the corner of our little street in the village.)

Picturesque:  An old fashioned telephone box in a country town (Coromandel), still in use too.

Starts with I:  Icecream... with bananas, chocolate sauce and sprinkles.

Your choice:  Kowhai flower.  One of our national symbols, a nice bright colour for spring, and tui come to feed on the nectar.

Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday). Have a look...

This week the prompts are: Spirit, Window view, change, speckled, Your choice.

Spirit: this is the tiny church on the corner of our block, a spiritual place, and I'm sure the grave yard is too.

Window view quarterly: the view from our sofa in the bumpout looks toward the street.  In the next quarterly photo the bushes should have sprung into life.  I like the blurry rain on the window.

Change: at the moment they are reconfiguring the layout of the road that leads to our house on Tamahere Drive.

Speckled:  a small part of my collection of speckled rocks; gathered over years and lots of places.  I guess the concrete on our path is speckled too ...

Your choice:  Another view of the churchyard from the walking/cycling path.  Nice to see the Rhododendruns coming out.

Dont forget to have a look at what others have spotted, and maybe join in?  here:  ispy-88

Pinky Pearlfect

The marbled band is made using pearly nail polish on water!

Here are some tutorials:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS799-PmfnI   or

https://www.making-greeting-cards.com/nail-polish-technique.html

I found fewer colours were better and not too much (so no blobs); also different amounts of each colour gives a better effect.  If you try it, make a secondary print from the bowl which will be softer and quite different.  Pearlised nail polish gives a beautiful effect.  Also the cheaper the nail polish the better it works!

Edges of pink card inked, sentiment stamped, marbled piece diecut, pearls added.  It looks better IRL.

Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday). Have a look...

This week the prompts are: Repeat, Backyard Quarterly Starts with T, Vision, choose anything monthly.

Repeat: Shoes - repeat in different sizes.  My friend has been looking for shoes for her daughter's wedding and I saw some on sale I thought she might be interested in, so I snapped (on my phone) the shoe, and then the boxes as I wasn't sure of her size.

Backyard Quarterly:  The house on the right is our house (two neighbours in the background).  The plants are still newly planted and I expect the next photo will be quite different.  The two maple trees will be in leaf, the triple plum and other fruit trees will have leaves and hopefully embryo fruit.  The camellia hedge on the very left is the boundary between us and other neighbours.

Stars with T:  Tulips, we've had the daffs, now it's tulip time.  Amazingly, these tulips are white/cream with pink streaks on the outside, but bright yellow inside with hot pink right at the bottom.

Vision:  the carrier bag from the optometrist.

Choose anything Monthly: September - new plum tree is in blossom

The prompts for this week are:  Written, material, product, starts with J, Your choice.

Written: found in a cafe ... enough said.

Material:  Lots of lovely material in this quilt... a visit to the quilt shop down the road - jelly rolls half price sale - how can I resist?

Product:  A friend gave me this for my birthday on Thursday , she chose it because it was pretty.  I think it's pretty too, I have never seen such a pretty bottle of wine.

Starts with J:  Jam jars with lemon curd

Your choice:  I went for a walk around the village and spotted these new-build houses reflected in the pond.
