Citrus Sunshine

House Mouse & Friends challenge is anything goes with option of STENCIL!  (info below)

Wonderful inspiration from the design team here:  housemouse-challenge

This is my last time with the House Mouse Design Team.  I have enjoyed being in this wonderful team for more than five years - I will miss our friendly chats and mousey fun - thank you for having me! I will be popping in from time to time to join in the challenges, and so will see you all around in blogland.

I chose a fruity citrus stencil to go with the image and warmed it up stencilling with warm orangey inks.  The sentiment is diecut from sparkly red card.  The image is from a CD.

Goofy Things

I made this for a NZ cardswap buddy.  We had a sketch, and had to use an animal not it's natural colouring.  Lie in wait and jump out for a surprise .... who hasn't done this when they were kids?

I embossed card and swiped with DI's to make a brick wall with an opening in it (the shape of the sketch).  Stamped the cats onto patterned paper and fussy cut, added touches of Copic, glittery eyes on one cat and googly eyes on the other.  I think the background it looks like a castle.

Earth Day coming up 22 April.  RRR:  reduce-reuse-recycle.

I re-used recycled packaging snippets: embossed,  torn, and diecut.  Also offcuts of gold mirror card.  The background is card I had previously experimented on, with splashes of blue.  Stamped on it, chopped it down into a slim panel.  Gold for precious and enduring, blue for the atmosphere.

Stamp: Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous

EF: Craft Concepts

Stacked sentiment: Wplus9

Also: DI's (splatter), Perfect Pearls copper mist (metallic), Nuvo Crystal drops, mirror card

Whatever the Weather

I had a bit of inky fun with this.  I rather think it's like you're looking out a window that is running with rain, and I like how the rain on the umbrella changes and sprinkles a rainbow underneath.

There are DI's, Color Fusion powders with gold sparkle.  The diecut is stacked. Panel framed with gold pen

Umbrella die: Tim Holtz/Sizzix

Warm My Soul Cat

Critter Crazy monthly challenge is always about critters, they need to be the focal point of the work.

The desgin team always provide inspiration, here:  crittercrazy

My cat is paper pieced & coloured, with a stencilled background oval stacked diecut.  The background is embossed and inked, decorated with a strip of inked border buttons.  All tied with yarn and dotted with gems.

Use designer papers is the option theme at House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge this time.  Be inspired by the designers, and join us here:  housemouse-challenge

I used some DP from my stash that were double side and coordinating.  The green has photographed as dull  but IRL is a pretty bright olive more like the leafy green.  I popped the image & senti on 3D foam, putting a little bundle of gold thread under the senti.

Man Trouble

We have plenty of males in our family and masculine birthday cards are always a challenge for me.  This one has lots of texture.  Embossing, sequin waste, hairy stringy braid (I 've had it for ages and never used it, I  think its very manly).  The transport EF lightly rubbed over with ink, chopped down to four images, and popped up with 3D foam tape.

Hugs Bunny

Hugs Bunny ... get it?   Not quite tiptoeing through the tulips, more like springing ...  Bunny is having a fine old time in the garden.  Even making this card made me feel happy and smiley.

The background is blues and greens DI's smooshed onto card, when dry stamped with plants.  The sentiment is stacked die cuts with a shadow. Bunny is diecut from copper metallic card, raised with 3D foam.  This is an unusual colour palette for me, but I like it.

Background is smooshed:

With Love Rose

Another card using a watercolour technique with Anna Griffiths stamp.  This stamp must be at least 15 years old and I'd never used it before.  Why? Maybe because it was so small, however it is perfect for this technique and for CAS style.

I made the base card slightly bigger on the back side and then cut the edge with fancy scissors.  I masked the edge a little way in and inked the edge in a darker pink.  The rose is stamped using DI's in a watercolour technique, then when dry, masked and splattered.

Stamp: Anna Griffin

Also: Distress Inks, Opal Dust (see the sparkle)

Pineapple Sweet

Oh so juicy, always eat pineapple slightly warm. MmmmMm.

I stamped the green tag with white paint and bubble wrap, splattered black, then stamped over with text.  Painted some random green around the edges, stamped "relax" in green ink.  Stamped the pineapple set in layers on previously smooshed card and diecut.  Touched up the leaves with Copics, added 3D Kindyglitz to the cut pineapple.  The tag sentiment hangs free and is stamped double sided.
