Happy Fishes

 

I sent this to my son-in-law who was really sick with covid.  He is a keen fisherman, loves being out in the sea, so inside I put a message that he'd better get well quick because the fish were having a happy time without him. Nothing like the sun on sparkling water to lure us in.

The stencil was the negative part of a die that looked like waves.  The fish were part of a larger die set with a net.  The fish are coloured with DI's too and some have sparkle added.

I stamped and coloured the image, then scored around the very outside edge to give it a frame (shame it doesn't show in the photo).  The red glitter card has diecut edges.  The bubbles are covered with Stickles for sparkle.

Summer floral

 

A new-to-me flower die and a hand-drawn background.  It doesn't show in the main photo, but it is coloured in (yellow and shades of green) and shows a bit in the detail photo, but still not as much as it really is. The edge is scored so it makes a bevelled frame.  I diecut the flowers in anemone colours.

I made a circle of Distress ink on an acrylic block then printed it onto the white card.  Scotty is stamped over part of the circle, and because he likes a party, a few sequins added. The dots needed extra white pen where the green was.  Isn't he the cutest?

Sailing

 

This yacht is a stamp I've had for years, the plaid stamp is more recent, but the I got the seashell EF this week.

I liked the idea of non-clooud background and went for plaid background instead - it still looks nautical and a bit masculine and goes well with the sea theme.  I stamped the background with stamped-off distress inks to get the worn look and spritzed it for blobbiness, and the shells have a bit of sparkle (which hardly shows up in pics).

Flower Frame

 

I was experimenting with using foil in a laminating machine.  Some pieces worked, some didn't.  This is one that did.  I used versamark ink to stamp, put foil over and run through machine a couple of times.

Tree Wishes

 

Here we are in July - midwinter for us in NZ - perfect for a midwinter Christmas.  I love these tree stamps which I have just got and decided to do it CAS.

I chose lemony cream card (why does it look white in the pic?)  for the panel to warm it up a bit, and covered the inks with holographic EP for pizzaz.  The little bird is diecut from a tiny snippet of red card (the perfect red to go with the green).

Inked illusion

 

A cardswap NZ group with the inked background theme.

I decided not to colour the hand-drawn background but to put the colour in the flowers.   This is a new-to-me die (don't know what brand, let me know if you do). 

The base card is scored to make a frame; I chose black so the colour would make a splash.  And a simple embossed sentiment.  Gems added to take the colour out into the background a bit.

Wheeee! What fun.  I've had this stamp for a while now and never used it before, so this was the perfect opportunity.  I like blue and green together and it worked for this card ... simple and crisp.  I die cut the label twice and slightly offset it to get a blue shadow effect.

At the moment I am enjoying making cards with both plain and  patterned papers.  This is the DP strip offcut from paper I used for the Baby card I posted earlier in the week.  I generally like fairly clean & simple cards with the odd burst of the more elaborate. The pink of the flamingo is actually a bit more intense than it looks in the photo, is more bubblegum pink.  The insert inside echoes the geometric DP.

Baby Grey

 

A gender neutral baby card, but still delicate.  I used snippets of embossed card leftover from other projects (various EF) to punch the squares, and diecut the word from pewter metallic card (gorgeous!) and layered it twice.  The rose is fabric and the leaf made using a punch-and-impress punch from vellum.
