mySpy Pic Week ending 25 December

mySpy

As you will probably know by now Lysha has finished her iSpy challenges, and I have decided to continue my own photographic journey.

This week has been full of contrasts, torrential rain (hot and sticky), bright sunshine with blue skies, and then last night thunder and lightning!  Still with high temps - yesterday was 31+ deg in the shade at our house.  When NZers say it's a white Christmas, they mean vanilla icecream and chilled white wine!

The village is all dressed up with lights and stuff, but these trees took my fancy.

Last week's torrential rainstorm; rain outside with aircon turned on inside.

Our street in daylight

and in the early hours

And yesterday ... one of my little furry visitors

I hope you had a fab Christmas with friends/family and I wish you a warm and wonderful 2023.

iSpy #100

Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday).   This week begins 5 December

Prompts this week are:  Colourful, Backyard Quarterly, Far, Jewellery, Choose anything monthly.

This is the last iSpy that Lysha is running.  However I have decided to continue a roundup of my photos regularly as I have enjoyed it so much.

Colourful: finally the flowers in pots are starting to flourish,  probably because we've had lots of rain lately.

Backyard quarterly:

Far:  A local trucking company has put lights in their big tree and we can see it from our place about half a kilometre away as the crow flies.

Summer Christmas

One of my fave Christmas stamps because it really reflects our summer celebrations and this is when we take our summer holidays.  The stamps are embossed for an extra bit of fancy.  The background is smooshed DI's with some interference gold misting and inked edges.

Southern Christmas Tree

This is a more meaningful Christmas tree to us here in NZ with some of our native flora and fauna forming the foliage.  I think the EF is complex enough and decided to keep it fairly simple.  Great for a last minute card.

I embossed the card and used pigment inks to highlight the shapes that make the tree, and sanded the dotty bits.  The sentiment is built in to the tree.  Matted onto gold frame.

iSpy #99

Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday).   This week begins 5 December

Prompts this week are:  Special, Blunt, Starts with S, Food, Your choice.

Special:  a vintage perfume bottle I was given.  I don't know how old it is, but I've had it for years.

Blunt:  this smartphone holder has blunt arms and legs

Starts with S:  it's nearly Christmas, so here is a Swan-a-swimming  from my 12 Days of Christmas ( I am working my way through the set and have the last four still to finish)

Food:  Yay, our first fruits from the garden since we moved here in April.  We brought the tub of strawberries with us (the birds actually ate the first two from the new crop)

Your choice:  With the first of December, our summer has officially arrived!!!! however whenever I use this shopping bag it always feels like summer

HM Swinging Christmas

House Mousies always have extra fun at Christmas, and the House Mouse Challenge is anything goes with option of CHRISTMOUSE Christmas.
Check it out here:  housemouse-challenge

Amanda has a particularly sweet tooth and will do anything to get a candy cane.  The image is coloured in Copics with WoS, a gold pen, and white pen used also.  I made this with grandchildren in mind and hid the sentiment under the image panel for the kids to discover.  Close up to see the sparkle of WoS on the candy.

Sweet Poinsettia

A sweet little gift that fits a Ferrero three-chocolate pack nicely and is closed with a magnetic strip.

I originally made this design at a workshop years ago, and have used it a lot.  A great idea to use up bits and pieces from that Bitz Box on your desk.
