Rainbow Unicorn

Made by Rhiannon (aged 12).
I made this using nonna's stuff.  I coloured the unicorn with pens and put opal dust on.  The flowers in the background have silver kindyglits on them.  The Unicorn is from TiddlyInks.
I am entering in some challenges but I have to use Nonna's blog.

iSpy #16

 iSpy #16   - April 2021

This week's prompts are:  Kitchen sink, Flower, Up, Mixed, Own choice.

KITCHEN SINK:   My first thought for this one was - what the?  Then it resolved itself naturally when I was making spagbol for dinner one night and had brought in stuff from the garden, dumped it in the sink to wash and put it up to drain - and had an AHA! "the kitchen sink" moment.

FLOWER: This was easy, I'm always taking flower pics.  This is a wood anemone growing in the wild part of the garden.  I love the light on this - late afternoon.  Click on to enlarge and see the velvety texture of the petals.

UP:  the mini chandelier in our nook.  I picked this up somewhere ages ago and have taken it with us whenever we moved house.  This little light fixture gives me a smile every time I walk past - so wacky and cheerful and FUN.

MIXED:  This is my fabric scrap bin.  This is the one my grandkids are allowed to raid, and sometimes even my friends who want a little bit of this or that to finish a project.

OWN CHOICE:  It has been a busy week - I have been away with my quilty friends at the beach for a few days stitching.  This is Kawhia upper harbour just after sunrise on Thursday morning from the deck.  It is so nice sitting out there with your first morning cuppa... well, any time of day actually.

Week ending 24 April 2021

HM Butter-Flying

I always dreamed I could fly.  Sadly, when I woke up I couldn't.  This mousey is having fun (but I can't tell how much fun the butterfly is having), and what a great way to do with someone else doing all the work!  I don't know f I could find a butterfly big enough for me to do this.

iSpy #14

 iSpy challenge with Lysha.

This week the prompts are: Turquoise, Pills, Dots/Stripes, Something beginning with "A", own choice.

Turquoise:  I had a couple of ideas for this one.   I do have a piece of turquoise jewellery, knitting wool and fabric,  but I still love our velvet sofa which we've had for a while now.  Can you see how soft it is?

Pills:  Years ago in France I bought this gorgeous little pill box in Avignon which is great for the handbag ( I have needed to take pills everyday for the last thirty-odd years).  It gives me joy just to see it and handle it and remember our time there.  It has an enamelled picture of ancient floor tiles from the palais des papes on it in a patchwork pattern.

Dots/Stripes:   On Friday a friend and I were travelling to our quilt class in Rotorua and passed through a little town on the way.  I found this in one of the shops and (along with several other furnishing fabrics) had to photograph them to send to another friend who is looking for fabric to cover her grandmother chair.  Perfect for the stripes prompt?

Starts with "A":  Whenever I go out to see my chickens I have a bit of a wander around our home  orchard.  Remember it is autumn here, so this is my "A" - apples - ready to pick.

And my own choice: this week my autumn crocuses popped up!  I was wondering what had happened to them and as they only last a few days, I thought I'd missed them ... but no, here they are.

What a lovely week.  All taken on my Samsung phone.

King Fisher

I love these crazy birds and they seem to go well for any occasion.  Background is made on wet watercolour paper using colour fusion powders.  Cord, stamping, splatter.  I love tags that are double and I often hide a message between.  OK, he might not have a crown but he is a kingfisher.

Stamp: Tim Holtz

Tag die: NCraft

Sentiment: Clear Impression

Music: Clear Impressions

Also: Infusions, Copics, ribbon, white pen, gold pen, gold acrylic paint, cord.

Butterfly Hugs

This is the cardswap for April at craftyNZcardmakers, it is a pop-up front step card (instructions online The Craft Spa).  It is easier to make than it looks.   This is a different colour selection for me.  The glossy accents are on random dots, WoS is on the stars.  I liked how it looks like Van Gogh's starry night painting.

HM Outdoor Fun

I still love wash days.  I know some places you are not allowed to hang washing outdoors, or the air is too polluted, or outdoors is not available.  Fortunately we are able to enjoy the joy of hanging clothes out in the sunshine and fresh air.  I think nothing can beat the smell of sunshine in clothes, or the sound of them flapping in the breeze.

The story:  Mama Mouse is back in the laundry doing the next load of washing, and outside are her helpers.  Helpers?!!  Of course these little helpers are having fun in the sunshine and fresh air.  I don't know that mama is going to be too pleased though.

Sending Happy

I like sending random cards to people for no reason at all.  I hope it brightens their day.  I like this bird in it's leafy bower and hope it sends the chirpy message.

I used patterned paper for the top layer and a couple of vellum diecuts underneath.  The bird is a couple of layers thick.  I like layering because it adds dimension without being too thick in the envelope.

Oval die: Poppy Stamps

Bird die: Kaisercraft

Sentiment:  Wplus9

Also: gems, vellum

iSpy #14

We are already onto Lysha's challenge iSpy #14!!

This week it's:   Wood,   Music,   Easter or Sunday,   Button,   own choice.

WOOD:  I didn't have to go far for this.  Ian does woodturning and stuff like that , so here is ONE pile of his wood stash.  You may notice it is full of cobwebs, hmm, not used that often.   I like that it makes a kind of abstract pattern.  Maybe I'll try some manipulation as well.

MUSIC:  Unfortunately we aren't musical (I love music; wish I was, I have tried), and don't have musical friends/family nearby, so I decided to go outside the box.  It has rained all day today and we have this big puddle collects on our driveway, perfect for my boat.  The boat is folded from old sheet music that I keep in my card making stash.

EASTER or SUNDAY:  Our youngest daughter Lauren stayed over Easter weekend, so what happens? Chocolate happens of course.  This little plate seemed to have chocolate on it all weekend, and it all seemed to vanish.  I know... it was that naughty bunny!

BUTTON:  One night our son and his family joined us for dinner and a game of Family Feud.  The grandkids love to use these buttons when they want to answer a question.  The buttons have lots of ways of saying the word, so it can get a bit chaotic.

OWN CHOICE:  Sorry, it's another one of my tadpoles/frogs.  Some of the other frogs have hopped away down to the creek, but this little one is still hanging around, and sits sunning itself on the rock.
They are so pretty with their gold racing stripes.

You might have noticed I'm a bit obsessed with reflections and can't resist (3 pics this time).
I can't wait to see what our next prompts are!  All my photos are taken on my Samsung phone.
