I think we all used to blow the seeds of dandelion and make a wish didn't we?  I coloured the image, then chose the plaid to coordinate, picking out the colours for the little flags at the end (which I doodled).  Stickles on the seed heads.

Grumpy Old Gent

 

Now and then I get the urge to make a man-card.  I got this new die & EF last week and just had to use them.  I slightly inked the embossed background with DI, and fussy cut the stamped sentiment.  I love this BOLD stamp sentiment which adds to the masculine feel.  I was going to emboss it but thought the raw look was more fitting.   Even though he looks grumpy, I hope he makes someone smile.

Butterfly Box

 

A box I made for a friend filled with a variety of little gift cards.  

I punched the edges and made a matching tag for the top.  The butterfly and leaf spray are diecut.

Wonderful Pink Birthday

 

A very pink celebration for a special birthday.  Simply CAS.

I used Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry to make the background by smooshing.  The woman and senti are stamped over top and details watercoloured with DIs, as well as some dotty stamping in Picked Raspberry and silver Versafine ink.  I don't know what brand the stamps are, they are new to me and unlabelled.

Here comes Summer!  House mouse and Friends are looking forward to summer (while I, here in NZ, am not looking forward to winter).

I decided a scenic card was called for and die cut some layers for the background.  The HM image is coloured and fussy cut, a tag added to cover the writing on the cup, and a spare flower from the top of the stamp to 3D.  WoS added to the flowers for some sparkle (hard to photograph).

Hogs the Crown

 

As it's coronation month, we have a cardswap in our NZ group to use a crown; also perfect idea for mother's day - happy mothers day Suna!

I used Distress Inks as watercolours, painting them on.  Gold flakes on the crown, metallic glitter card, and gems of course!  Also perfect idea for mother's day.

Flowers are always a good choice, and this layered diecut is so gorgeous.  I used a stencil on the background and inked the edges.

I stamped this image twice, embossing one in blackon white card and the other in white on black card.  Then cut in half; and get two cards!

There is also stamping (just using the hair part of the stamp) on the mat in shades of pink.

mySpy - May 2023

 This month I decided to feature sharp and spiky.  Harder than I thought.

A NZ cabbage tree.  Some people think it's a palm tree, it's not.  It's actually a giant lily!

Hedgehogs?   A swarm of them.  What is the collective name for hedgehogs?   a hump?  a spike?  

Yeah,Nah!  They are chestnuts.

And some spiky sticks ... erm  pool cues.

It was quite difficult to find spiky things that weren't plants!

I hope you can look for and find some spiky stuff in your environment.

I like using birds and butterflies for sympathy cards as they seem to symbolise a journey to me.

I chose monochrome for this as the stamp design was very detailed and I wanted the silhouette to stand out.

Mini-Moo Tree

 

Our NZ cardswap group's theme is CAS using a mini-moo (look it up - it is a tiny scrap of certain size).

I used an offcut/snippet of previously smooshed card, and stamped a tree, trimming it to the required size and fussy-cutting the left over bit. Gold leaf is added to the background and some parts of the leaves.  The background card is embossed and inked.   Also, a coordinating envelope.

PS. A mini moo is a card that is 1.125" X 2.75"  (For those who want the measurements of the mini moo converted - 2.86 cm x 7cm) - half of a business card lengthwise. It is such a small canvas that it isn't overwhelming. Also, This size is perfect for those scraps!

Butterfly print

 

 No, I didn't print an actual butterfly (no animals were harmed in the making etc.)  but I did heavily ink the diecut and use it to print the card while it was still wet, then reinked it.  When dry misted with shimmer mist.  The background is also subtly splattered, edges outlined with gold pen as is the senti.  The diecut is double layered to give it depth.

This week I've been having a play with paints, inks etc. what fun!  The middle masked and paint brushed roughly on sides.  Splatter with black mister.  Cat coloured with Copics and fussy cut.
