Sock monkeys

This is one of my non-card making activities - making sock monkeys.  It all started when my local quilting guild started making them to go in Ambulances to give to young children for comfort and to distract them when they are hurt.
I don't make button eyes because sewn felt eyes can be given safely even to a baby.
I've also made them to give to migrant refugee children who often arrive here with nothing, and also to a friend who volunteers in India.   There is no nationality limitations with sock monkeys!

Some people went on to make other kinds of animals, but I figured these cheeky fellas make me smile so they are sure to make a child feel better.

These are great, Carol. So cute. I like the idea of the felt eyes. Very safe. How nice that you volunteer your time to make these.

I used to quilt all the time. I had to quit due to a rotator cuff problem. I miss it, but I really like the fact with card making you can be done a whole lot quicker.

These are gorgeous Carol - love all the colour variations you can achieve with these wee critters. Good thinking to use felt eyes!

Love these - do you have or know where I can get a tutorial for them....probably could manage without one but life is too short and any help would be great. What a wonderful idea to have them for all the places you've mentioned.

The weather in Northern Ireland is cold, cold cold....wonder when Spring weather will match the Spring flowers blooming everywhere.
