I'm sure we have all experienced making a card for a very sick child; acknowledging their illness, knowing they won't get well is very hard. Most seriously sick children don't care about getting well, they just want to feel better. That's why I find the 'feel better' sentiment is more appropriate in these circumstances... and something interactive to distract, like a shaker card.
