Mermaid Serena

The Crafters Café has a recycling/upcycling challenge on now - check it out now:  crafterscafe

The sponsor who provided this image is: cuteasabuttonstamps Mermaid Serena

This is how it started off:

I wanted to keep the sparkly box as it was so the contents can be seen easily and it's so girly. I decided to give it to one of my granddaughters to keep her hair ties in, so I prettied it up with layers of doily and coloured Serena in mermaid colours (which just happen to be her favourite hair tie colours).

I added pearls - I'm sure all mermaids wear pearls.

Easter Magic is when hen eggs get magicked into chocolate eggs!  (This pic is really me with my fairy wings on).  I took out the hen eggs and replaced them with chocolate marshmallow eggs, and covered the original labelling on the egg carton with easter paper that had random words glittered.  Tied a wide organza ribbon around the box (to stop prying eyes and sneaky fingers), coloured with Copics (note: ombre dress) and cut out Phyllis (isn't she gorgeous?) and mounted her on the front of the box to do her magic.

I recycled a Mollie Makes magazine into background paper and used a photo of the chair upholstery on that page for the band.  I decided to carry through the limited palette and just colour the bits of the girl as a focal point, reflecting the flower colour in the button.  A cuppa and a book ... heaven!
