Be Awesome

Die Cut Divas anything goes challenge this month is sponsored by Kaisercraft with an amazing prize - check it out:
http://die-cut-divas.blogspot.co.nz/

The turquoise card is embossed and the high spots dabbed with white chalk ink. Feather is diecut and stencilled using a recycled manila folder.  The label is ready-to-use on a page with other sentiments.
I reckon this would make a great mancard.

Thanks Kaisercraft!

Birthday Trip

Well today is my hubby Ian's birthday and this is the card I made him.  I bought the stamp way back in April when we first bought this property and he knew he would need a ride on mower.  We moved in at the end of May.  Some of you know the saga of the mower on its first outing, and now, since it was fixed he has yet to complete his first entire mow because of the winter weather.

Anyway, he will look just like this on the mower in summer, but for now he wears a polar fleece jacket and boots.

Dream Big Feather

This month at Die Cut Divas we have an Anything Goes challenge:

And our sponsor is the wonderful Kaisercraft - get it here:

I made the feather first by rubbing crayons on card, then melting it with a heat gun.  Then I die cutting it, embossing and then stencilling through the die.
The background is an embossing folder that is rubbed over the high spots with Versamark ink, and clear embossed (I love this technique called embossed embossing at Splitcoast stampers).   The tag is from a patterned paper simply cut out,  a tulle knot added and all secured with a brad.  When I put the front onto the base card I decided to highlight the red tones by inserting scraps of red tulle to stick out.

Die: Kaisercraft Detailed Feather
EF: Kaisercraft: Triangles
PPaper: Kaisercraft - Passport
Also: crayons, clear EP, brad, scraps of black & red tulle.

Mustache Guy

Fathers Day or a mancard is the theme at Come And Get It challenges this time:
http://cagichallenge.blogspot.co.nz/

I chose this amazing image from our sponsor Bugaboo: http://www.bugaboostamps.com/Mustache-Guy_p_3557.html

Here he is with the tag out of its pocket:

After I printed the image, I diecut the tag at both ends using an oval die to get a lopsided effect, inked the edges, stamped the background and coloured him with copics.
The card is embossed, inked, and a pocket stuck on the front with a rosette.

Cupcake Birthday gift bag

Bloobel Stamps is the sponsor of this "For a Child" challenge at The Crafters CafĂ© - have a look at all the ideas the design Team have come up with:  http://crafterscafeblogchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/

I chose Bloobel's Birthday cupcake, get it here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/276446378/digi-digital-stamp-instant-download?ga_search_query=cupcake+birthday&ref=shop_items_search_1

These Bloobel images are so cool and fun to use.  This could be for any age male really, not just a child.

I coloured the image with copics, and stamped a sentiment at the top, then inked softly on the front and heavily on the edges.

I made the gift bag using We R Memory Keepers
bag maker.  I diecut the top with Spellbinders, and also a couple of tags in navy and olive green to embellish.  I used one on the flap and the others like tabs sticking out the side and glued stars (everyone is a star on their birthday!), and tied with olive green linen thread.
Great for stuffing with a gift.

Altered

Altered teacup.

My friend Jude and I made ourselves a pincushion each from an old teacup.  We also made the pins from random bits from the bead box,  and the roses from scraps of fabric.

How to:
Made the roses from torn strips of scrap fabric & lace and the leaves from bits of organza ribbon.
Made the puff stuffed with dacron filling, and hot glued it into the cup.
Hotglued the cup to the saucer, then arranged the roses and leaves before hot gluing them on.
The pins were just a packet of pearl-head pins from the dollar shop with odd beady bits arranged and glued in place.

This was a fun thing to do and such a lovely way to enjoy those 'lady' cups again - much better to enjoy them than to have wrapped up in storage.

Feather wishes

Anything goes this month at Die Cut Divas
http://die-cut-divas.blogspot.co.nz/
with wonderful sponsor Kaisercraft :
https://www.kaisercraft.com.au/newsite/index.php

Just look at this Kaisercraft patterned paper and feather die - woohoo!!

I made the  feather cut from card made by using Adirondak paint daubers on glossy cardstock, which kind of makes the paper thicker somehow.  I diecut the feather, embossed, then stencilled lightly through the die with distress ink.
I went for simple and a totally natural look with the feather, weathered paper and string.  I wanted the sentiment to look hand-done.  I think feathers always leave a message from birds:  I was here!

At The Crafters CafĂ© this time the challenge is vacation, travel etc.  Check it out and see what the rest of the team has created:  http://crafterscafeblogchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/

LACY SUNSHINE is a sponsor and I chose this wicked image: Dare to be different.  Get it here:
http://lacysunshine.weebly.com/store/p1936/Tori-_Dare_to_Be_Different.html

I coloured the image with copics, then diecut bits here and there....  then I got distress inky - smudged & edged. I made the sentiment on the computer  and fastened it on with (have a closer look!) hot pink staples! I used bits and pieces of patterned paper along one edge to give it an industrial look.
Now she's ready to go ... have board, will travel!

Draped

So glad you have joined us for the photo inspiration challenge with the Die Cut Divas
http://die-cut-divas.blogspot.co.nz/
and our May sponsor A Day for Daisies:
http://adayfordaisies.blogspot.co.nz/

This month we have a photo inspiration and for this card my inspiration was ONE button in the photo.  Can you spot it?   I was inspired by one button in there that had a pearly centre and metal filigree around the outside, and it went perfectly with the drape card.

Breezy buttons

Another card for Die Cut Divas May challenge
http://die-cut-divas.blogspot.co.nz/
using photo inspiration and A Day For Daisies image ssponsor: Breeze in Spring.

What a sweet image and it's a dream to work with.
Lots of layers: labels, a doily, some daisies, fine twine, tiny metallic stars, and a teensy heart stamp.
Not my favourite colours but now and then we need to work outside our go-to colours.  This one is dictated by the colour of the buttons I had in my stash!

Sassy Martini

Would you like Olive in your martini?
Well, here she is!

Check out the Charms & Ribbons challenge and the lovely work by the design team at Come And Get It:
http://cagichallenge.blogspot.co.nz/

This image is by super sponsor Sassy Studio Design:
http://buysassystudiodesigns.blogspot.co.nz/

I printed the digi image on plain white card and also on patterned paper, which I cut out for paper piecing her dress, gloves and shoes.  I coloured the white card with copics.  I always like to have a little something to discover so, on the background, I stamped stars with a glue-pad and sprinkled on GlamourDust.  The glass is outlined with crystalline Kindyglitz.  I diecut the card and also a dotty paper for a frame on top, then tied an organza olive ribbon with a high heel shoe charm (cute huh?)  I also punched the corners of the base card.
Click on pics for a closer look.

Sailaway

One-layer cards take a bit of planning and are challenging but fun to make.  I like simple.

Here I used a stencil and two shades of blue distress inks for the sea, fading it out so it looks like they are sailing in mist.  The ship  and birds are stamped and coloured with copics.  No designer paper in sight.

I would use this for a birthday card for a male of any age, and because of the cartoonish nature of the image it's a little bit fun too.

Stamp: Woodware
Stencil: Rosies
Also distress inks, WofS on sails

Sweet girl

TPD-Card-Challenge-May.dwg

This sweet girl with flowers in her hair is great to colour, and I have used a sketch  from Two Paper Divas to put her on.

Image diecut with faux stitching, gingham paper, torn silk fibre paper, a bit of lace, stripes and a star!
I will probably add a sentiment later when I know what it's for.  This stitched circle may be simple but it just pops on a card; not to mention it's my current fave.

Whoo did that ?

Tearing is such fun, so is distressing ...

Purple linen card torn, sanded & distressed.
A bright paper laid underneath to just peep through without taking over.
A wee owl.
A handwritten sentiment.

He and some friends have been sitting in the 'bits' box on my desk for months now...  he hopped out just for this card, but do you think he looks a bit embarrassed, or maybe guilty?

Happy Birthday flower

This is my first try at an inlaid die card.

I stamped the background using an embossing folder as the stamp (distress inks) and spritzed with gold glimmermist.  I love to make my own background and like the effect of this technique, kind of casual and arty.
I die cut the words from the background, from orange card and from black card.  Mattted the background onto black then inlaid the first diecut layer.  At this stage I decided I wanted to leave the 'birthday' at one layer, but stacked the  'happy' with a total of four, making the top layer the same as the background.  A stamped flourish, purchased flower and fancy brad to complete.

Die: Couture Creations
EF: Amy Tangerine
Brad: Rosie's Studio
Stamp: Hero Arts

Autumn Fun

This fortnight at The Crafters CafĂ© we have B&W fronts and Bright Colours inside.  How's that for exciting?  Check out the talent here: http://crafterscafeblogchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/

As we are now in autumn in NZ, I chose sponsor Lacy Sunshine's EmmyLouBoosAutumn Leaves - get it here:

I printed the image on 2 pieces of card and coloured one.  For the front, I matted the white card onto black, then diecut a heart out of her face and inserted vellum.
for the inside, I matted the coloured image onpale blue, then carefully lined it up so it matched the front image and stuck it down.  I tidied up the back of the vellum with the same heart die.  Then I punched lots of coloured leaves for her to have some fun with.

Birthday Cow

Ever been on a balloon flight ? - it's magic!

I stamped the sentiment with white chalk ink to look like a blackboard.  I stamped the cute cow stamp onto it, then onto white card and onto various paper scraps for paperpiecing the balloons.

I distressed the edges of the wine paper and a patterned paper, layering over a diecut doily.  The wee patch of grass is diecut and inked.

Sentiment stamp: Kaisercraft
Cow stamp: Penny Black
Grass die: Impression Obsession
Doily: Couture Creations
Other: Copics, Distress Inks, white gel pen

Gathering Flowers

Come and Get It Challenges have a feminine theme with a "card for a woman".  You can see what the rest of the DT did, and  join in yourself here:
http://cagichallenge.blogspot.co.nz/

I chose our sponsor A Day for Daisies digi image called Gathering Flowers; what a lovely drawing and soooo feminine.  Get it here:
http://adayfordaisies.com/stamps/flowers-garden/gathering-flowers

I coloured the image with copics, using the crosshatching technique for the sky to give it a bit of texture.
I decided to make a free standing pop-up card, AKA a stand up box card, after getting one recently in a cardswap.    I had never made one before, but good instructions at Splitcoaststampers.
Some patterned paper, a few die cuts and punches, a golden butterfly, and a bit of glitz make the card.  Note: I reinforced the vine diecut in the front with two layers so it would stand up nicely.
And what's amazing is ... it totally folds flat for posting!

Button Babe

This month Die Cut Divas http://die-cut-divas.blogspot.co.nz/ has a photo challenge:

... and our May sponsor is A Day for Daisies.  I chose this gorgeous image to work with and knew immediately what I wanted to do with both cards (spot the next one on 23rd May).  It looks like spring; she's out picking flowers!
I printed the button picture (you can too, I give you permission!) and used it to paper piece her hair and top.  I fussy cut one button, added glossy accents and used 3D foam to adhere it.  The tag background is sponged around the image, then stencilled, and edges inked.  The diecut buttons are layered, the bottom layer having gold glittery Stickles in the holes, and the top layer with drawn on thread.

Belly Dancer Darcee

The Crafters Café challenge theme is Feminine, check it out http://crafterscafeblogchallenge.blogspot.co.nz/

This image from our sponsor My Stitch Back In Twine is lovely especially if you're a colourist.

I decided to keep her as the star of the show so after colouring and cutting her, framed her in ovals (purple card, white card, white mulberry paper) and then diecut the corners with an eastern motif.

Summer sippin'

A challenge that's black and white with an accent colour.  I guess usually you think of something like that as black on white ground, so I reversed it and kept it simple.  If you click on it you will see what is in the glass... fizzzzzzzzz
