Gnome-y Christmas

I made this for 'B' who has a thing for gnomes at the moment.  I hope it arrived in time for Christmas.   I thought my little gnome would like to meet your little gnomes.

Sorry to hear your Christmas was cancelled because of health crises for both of you, but glad you will celebrate when you can!

Christmas Stockings

 For their first Christmasses I made all the grandchildren a quilted Christmas stocking.  However, somehow Grace's and Jackson's have got lost and although Grace is 12 and Jackson is 10 they still wanted their own special stockings.  So in a mad rush I got these done just in time.

Handbags with a surprise

For the grandkids this year we are doing giftcards and some sweet treats.  I made these to hold the gift cards for the girls.

I got them from a tutorial at Beccy's Place, and just adjusted them to suit me.

I added flowers, pearls/gems, and tags with their name.

Inside there is a slot for the giftcard which stands up when the card is opened.  I have put a piece of paper on the top just to cover the name and message.

Shirts with a surprise

For the male grandchildren I have made these origami shirts which have a gift card inside, to go with another sweet gift.

I bought a paperfold origami shirt at a local craft market and copied it.

Turtle Dove

Our little Quilty Girls group meet together and are working our way through the 12 days of Christmas, reckoning if we do one a month we should have the set finished by next Christmas.
This is Day 2: Turtle Dove.
I'm not really much of a hand stitcher, but I'm enjoying this project.  Only ten to go...

Made from wool felt, the idea is to make a heritage set for our children/grandchildren, however my lot don't go for this kind of thing so this is for me.

My assignment was to be inspired by special food at Christmas.   In New Zealand we have a summer Christmas and it just so happens to coincide with fresh cherries coming into shops.  So for this card I have combined the delicious cherry on a cupcake (with cream cheese icing) and a nice cool drink while we swelter in the heat under a shady tree  (sigh).  

 The image is printed three times, twice on card and once in part onto patterned paper for piecing.  Shading is added with Copics in similar colours.  WoS is applied to the icing, and Glossy Accents to the cherry (oh yum).  The cupcake is raised on 3D foam.

I masked the top half and dragged D'inks down the bottom half of the card like ombre, and spritzed.  The cup is printed on patt. paper and printer paper.  Eyes and teeth applied, coffee coloured, cup etc shaded.  Edges inked, tied with twine (coffee holds us together sometimes!), little dots of white added.  The happy is only inked on half of a stamp that says happy halloween.

I used the die as an embossing folder and then rubbed over with Distress inks.  The image is coloured then swiped with WinkofStella for subtle sparkle.

Summer Santa

In our New Zealand cardswap group the theme for December was stitching (of any kind) with optional Christmas.  Remembering we have a summer Christmas!
I selected a Santa and a sentiment that was in the 'odds & sods box' on my desk and decided on a rustic approach to the stitching.  There is faux stitching around both panels as well as real stitching.
