This is my last post with the Incy Wincy DT, but be sure to keep visiting me as I carry on card making.  I used the Selected Palette of Colours.   I try to make a card a day, and after all these years I still love it.

I printed the digi image once on card and once on paper so I could apply patterned paper to piece for her bodice and hat. The background is made with Lozzy's papers Pastel Mixed Media, get them here: ninspapercrafting

#48 iSpy photographic challenge

 iSpy # 48.  Every week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday).  It's always wonderful to see how people are inspired.

I missed last week,  the first time I missed this year!  I didn't have any festivities, food (had some teeth out) free or fortune.  No inspiration at all.

This week the prompts this time are: Starts with U, Red, Small building, Sweet, Your choice.

Starts with U:  Urban view.  I love old buildings, and don't they show up beautifully here against the boring stark modern ones?  Such wonderful character and mellowness.

Red:  Feijoa flowers.  I talked about them a couple of weeks ago.  You may know this plant as pineapple guava.  The pollen dots on the ends of the stamens actually look like gold dust (colour doesn't show very well here).  The bushes are covered with buds and flowers and we are going to have a bumper crop this autumn.

Small building: This is a toilet block at a local shopping centre, isn't it wonderful?  I took the photo because I thought it would make a great quilt.

Sweet:  Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing -  one of my faves.

Your choice:  At the moment it's late spring here, and with all the sunshine and showers the grass is growing like mad.  I managed to get this between mowings before the daisies got their heads chopped off.  I like daisies, such cheerful little flowers.

Merry Scene

 

Such a super stamp to colour and reminds me of a holiday we spent in France when it snowed on boxing day - so exciting for us!  A Christmas past. I hope someday to have another white Christmas somewhere in the world.  Christmas present for us is sitting under a shady tree sipping something cold.

Happy Hoppers love to fly kites ... oops, maybe not this high!  The background is one I made using mousse, glimmer mists and perfect pearls.  The kite and hopper are paper pieced.  I drew the birds.

 iSpy #46   Lysha's photographic challenge

This week the 5 prompts were: House, Brown, Stitch, Architectural, your choice.

Nov. House:  the early summer shot of our house.  The flowering cherry in front is full of birds nesting.  We see them darting in with beaksful of food and coming out empty, but we can't actually spot any nests (even from upstairs), the foliage is so dense.  It keeps things cool in summer though.

Brown:  pinecones that sit in a flower pot outside the potting shed.  They are about 3 years old and have faded to lovely caramel shades.

Stitch:  A little stitchery project called "Gertrude the Gardening Angel".  She will be a panel on a tote bag.

Architectural:  This house is a replica of Katherine Mansfield's house and is part of the Katherine Mansfield Garden at our local Hamilton Gardens (traditional colonial architecture for NZ).  Hamilton Gardens is a collection of gardens that are world famous here.  They are in quite a small space but you can't see one garden from another, they have been so cleverly designed.  There are garden styles from all over the world (eg. Chinese, Indian, Italian, English, Tropical,  Japanese etc., as well as specialist gardens such as medicinal, potager, surrealist, Maori.

Own choice:  Sorry folks, it's more roses.  These are standard Iceberg underplanted with Lavender Grosso with Feijoa hedge in the background.  Of the twenty or so feijoa plants, there are 8 different varieties so we can have fruit over a longer time.  You may know feijoa as pineapple guava.  It is covered with flowers right now (promising a good fruiting); the flowers are red with golden stamens.  Maybe I'll do a photo for this coming week.

A set of pengi tags, simple but cute.  Did you know NZ has lots of kinds of penguins?   Out of the 18 species of penguins found in the world, thirteen of them have been sighted in New Zealand.  Nine of those 13 species actually breed in New Zealand.  In fact, just in the past week an Adelie penguin from Antarctica found it's way here - a first - it must've got lost when it turned left at the iceberg.
