96 Fall
I stamped the green card with a script stamp in a tonal colour, not too obvious because I wanted it to be the ground. Then inked the trees stamp in various colours of ink with the colours grading downwards, as they do in autumn. Matted onto pearlish brown card with a wide border at the bottom. Punched leaves , scrunched them, inked and spritzed colour over and adhered them with fine dimensional foam.

Snowman
Holidays
This snowman stamp is DIY, you can mould his body and make him/her any shape you want.
Stamped in red ink, stamped again with black ink on scraps and paper pieced, hat, scarf and buttons. Coloured his nose with pencils and cut him out.
torn paper for the snowy ground, and punched snowflakes in two sizes. All arranged onto a dotty paper.
I think he looks a happy man and is off to a celebration of the confederation of snowpersons!

Christmas bird
Sparkle
I love a vintage-y look but with a modern twist, does that make sense?
This bird looked like it was sitting on a twig while it is snowing. Paper lacey border along the top, and matted in the same paper as the dark strip. All layered. The diagonal chevrons are sparkly adhesive ribbon. Finally I punched snowflakes, layering the larger one, added them with dimensional foam, topping them with gems. I like the muted effect and soft colours although that is not my usual palette.
All the papers came from the same paper pad, including the bird.

Travel
Punched a notebook top on white card, stamped sentiment in different shades of blue. Used a page out of a map book, curled the corner. Stamped a bicycle, matted and tied embroidery floss around, fraying the ends. Stamped 'fun' on a giant brad. On the blue base card, a trail of footprints wanders up the page.
I have arranged everything at 'whoopsy' angles to create a sense of casual movement and, I hope, fun.

Something Sweet
Something sweet, sparkle
I have this jar stamp and was looking for things to put in it, so after a quick supermarket visit, I photographed a pile of these sour worm sweets, printed on computer, stamped the jar over and cut it out. I stamped the lid on gold paper and inked it. Make a tag, distressed it, added a gold reinforcer. Stamped the sentiment, isn't it perfect? then cut out three of the sweets, glued and covered them with sparkly sugary glitter - and they look just like the real thing!

Die crazy
Die crazy, fave die, PB Anything goesI find it hard to make a card these days without a die cut on it somewhere. Love 'em. My favourite at the moment is the Sizzix distress corner die set - I love the tatty look & can't stop using them - they are gorgeous! I guess I am primarily a stamper though who loves to get inky; isn't this a fabuloso stamp I found last week?
Stamped cream card with this stunning stamp, and coloured some parts with pencil. Diecut distress corner. Sponged distress ink black and blue over different parts, using diecut cogs as a stencil. Touched some cogs of the stamp with gold pen. Diecut keyhole and then diecut another from gold paper and put in gap. Diecut key and padlock, backing padlock with gold paper, placed along ribbon & adhered ribbon with d/s tape. Placed backing paper behind diecut corner. Added diecut cog and metal dot.
Stamp: Finnabar
Diecut key, keyhole & padlock: Kaisercraft
Diecut cog: Memory box
Diecut corner: Sizzix

Stamped stems using a loopy stamp (see, they are so pleased to see the sun they are springing up!).
Flowers added.
Snippet of orange ribbon stapled on.

Birthdays
Favourite occasion
I like making birthday cards, and I like to make for a specific person and personalise it so it fits them. This is for a gardener.
The butterflies are on vellum and the gorgeous ribbon softly changes colour through the length - they just seemed right for each other. This is one ribbon that I am precious about because I have never seen it since I bought it years ago. The ribbon tied on looks just like little butterflies, I think.

I coloured white card with distress inks , stamped the girl and sentiment(Stampotique stamps), trimmed and matted. Had to give her some lippy.
For the background I used distress stains to blob.
I like the contrast between the smooth background of the topper (looks almost dreamy) and the blobby background. AND I just love these stamps.

This is a fairly simple card, however I love the joie de vivre these dogs exude; not to mention their fab outfits - aren't they gorgeous? The linen textured card is actually the colour of the dog in the front of the line, so hasn't photographed well.
Diecut tag and sentiment. Gems. The dogs are fancy tape.

Mermaid Sequins
As you all know I am a little girl when it comes to mermaids - I love them. I used sequins for the scales on her tail, and of course all self respecting mermaids would have pearls too, not to mention the stardust in her hair.

Embellishments: Sequins, pearls, Kindyglitz for stardust, two shades of ribbon knotted
Embossing Folder: Sizzix bubble

I love buttons and have inherited a jarful. And I love pretty papers ... so this sketch just seemed right for CAS buttons and checks. It really doesn't take much to make a card look pretty smart. And I reckon this would be okay for a man or woman.

Flowerpot Baby
Stamp & Die; Embellishments
Isn't this the cutest image? And I like the non-traditional colours too.
Stamped in black ink, coloured with Lyra watercolour crayons, then diecut, with a slightly larger die cut in red for a mat. Mounted on dotty paper. Diecut label with stamped sentiment. And of course using my two favourite embellishiments - ribbon trim and brads. Ribbon is such a cool embellishment as there is such a fabulous range available, and did you know you really only NEED have one lot of brads because you can have them as they are; colour them with ink or pens; ink & heat emboss them; or glue and glitter them! How handy is that?

Etching workshop
Etching weekend class with Carole Shepheard August 2015 at her Kawhia workshop with a wonderful water view. How magic to sit drinking coffee with a wood pigeon sitting outside the window.
This is an etching done from a photo I took at Riverton in Southland, NZ a couple of years ago. What a magic spot and this rickety old wharf just begged for attention.

On the right is an aquatint made from the same etched plate, using two tones of ink.

This uses the same plate in a Chine Colle technique using one tone of ink for printing, but onto heavy paper overlaid with tissue that has been coloured previously with three colours.
What a wonderful weekend and a wonderful bunch of women. We had a lot of fun, made a few mistakes which were turned into opportunities, but in the end what fabulous results. Everyone went away tired but happy. Carole is a wonderful teacher, and shares her knowledge in a seemingly effortless way. She must've been very tired at the end of the weekend too, with eight of us to wrangle.

Notions Quilt Challenge
The challenge is "Notions" ; had to be 30cm x 30 cm finished size, and consist of three quilting layers (top, batting, back).
This is version one. Even though I had been working with it on & off for a month or more, I wasn't satisfied with it, it felt messy and unfocussed.
On the morning of hand-in, I took bits off and discarded them, then rearranged other pieces, in particular the scissors.
I am happy with this one: Version two. The scissors look much better 'cutting' through the slash at the top, and fewer buttons show up the black stitching that quilts the piece. And more importantly it looks 'cleaner' and more purposeful. Now I think the eye goes up the zip and around the quilt in a focussed way, rather than darting all over the place.
Hope you like it too.

Mojo409This is such a great sketch!
Panel of dotty paper, corners rounded.
A round of torn mulberry paper.
A bit of diecut rose peeping out.
Image panel is a download from Creative Stamping.
Sentiment strip is a rub-on with a clear background, because I wanted to see through & not interrupt the line of her. Quite simple as I didn't want anything to compete with her, isn't she a darling?

HeartSong
Mojo409I am so liking this sketch!
A plain white card base.
A round of white torn mulberry paper.
A strip of wine mulberry paper.
An ATC I made ages ago and never could part with. I was having a clean out and thought why not make use of the ATCs as toppers? The heart is punched, inked, and covered with several layers of Glossy Accents sprinkled with fine glitter while still wet. The music is washi tape. All put on a background scrap of embossed white card (swiss dots) and a scrap of striped paper. edge inked all round.
White satin ribbon .
Isn't that romantic?

Bonnes Vacances
Mojo409; Sparkle; Fun in the sun
What else is a summer holiday but clear blue skies, pristine sand and sparkling sea?
I just made this for our French teacher who is off to Fiji for a holiday in a week's time - remember it's the middle of our NZ winter! And because there was a sparkle challenge in the mix, I couldn't resist...
Sparkly papers torn and layered (to represent sea, sand and sky). A digi-stamp coloured with Reno pens, matted in dark blue. Horizontal strip is under the topper instead of on top but the wavy postmark continues the line. Postmark stamps and a flower in her hair with pearl centre. Diecut rounded shells (from Coffee paper) and star-fish (manila) attached with dimensional foam. Sentiment is my handwriting scanned & e-cut. Now doesn't that make you want to go on a tropical holiday? I'm so envious, I look out the window today and it is dull grey and pouring with rain!
Digi-stamp: Scrappers Delight
Stamp: (Hampton Art)
Die-cuts: Cuttlebug
E-Cut: Brother Scan'n'Cut

Thinking Man
Mojo409; Anything goes
Paper from stash.
Face Stamp: Stampers Anonymous.
Glasses & Moustache: from Craft Stamper magazine, heat embossed black.
Die cut: Spellbinders Labels nineteen
I'm having trouble getting colours to come out right; the green is really more of a bright dark lime green and looks quite snappy. This is taken in daylight; I wonder, does anyone else have this problem??
Thanks for visiting and commenting.
