 I Spy #10

This week the prompts are: texture, fun, tall, shoes, own choice.

Texture:  this fell out of our tree recently.  It is beautifully made with a variety of materials: dried grass, a large leaf on the bottom of the outside, dog hair, sheep wool, lichen (the whitish curly bits), moss, feathers, some sort of stringy fibre etc. - what a clever bird to make such a beautiful nest.  I have it in a glass bowl on my coffee table.   The eggs have hatched, not been damaged.

Fun: Who doesn't like playing at the beach?  Here are two of our grandchildren on one of our road trips.

Tall: this is a palm tree, one of a row down the middle of the street in Raglan, a small town and our nearest beach (about an hour drive away).  Every two weeks on a Friday, a group of us get together to stitch, this week we went to Fiona's at Raglan and as soon as I saw the palms I knew it was my TALL!

Shoes:  This is a collection of Ian's shoes by the door - he is too tired to take them upstairs!!!

Own choice:  On Wednesday I took two of our granddaughters to the ballet for their birthdays; it was a surprise and we went out for a pizza dinner, so they didn't know until we got there.  This was taken while waiting for it to start.

What an exciting week it has been.

This is a one layer card printed directly onto the top fold card.  I masked areas of the background behind Lolly for the spotlight, then masked Lolly to colour the whole spotlight area in shaded blues.  Then I coloured Lolly before applying the various glitters.

HM Cheers 4 Cherries

 

This is a pyramid fold card (Google Pyramid Fold Butterfly Card).  It folds out flat for posting; I made each triangle side  4 1/4" so it would fit a standard C6 envelope.  It will stand without the twine, but I also punched holes so it would tie together ( just because it looks cute).

I have been drawing since a child and studied graphics at College many years ago, I now work as a Medical photographer part time but my love was always drawing. I started cardmaking about 4yrs ago when I bought my daughter a cardmaking kit which we did together, but I’m afraid I got the bug! My daughter preferred scrapbooking. I then started looking online at other blogs and this then became my passion and I loved sharing my cards with like minded people.

I love stamping and loved finding images, but sometimes I could not find what I wanted so I started to draw myself.

This then has become my second addiction and I have never looked back, I love thinking of new images, and its just fabulous to see others take them and make them into beautiful works of art. Long may it continue!

This week the challenge is: Scrambled, sparkle, kitchen object, get low, own choice.

Scrambled:  

This is a postcard I have on the wall in my office cubby.  I have had it for years, don't know where I got it, but it always makes me smile because ofetn my barin wroks fatser tahn my figners on the kyebaord!

Sparkle:  

These jandals/flipflops I have had for at least five years.  I wear them in the house because they make my heart happy.

Kitchen Object:  Egg Skelter

As you may know by now, I have chickens (Roxie, Ruby, Cilla, Betsy, Topsy, Jackie, Rosie, Spicy & Beanie).  You put the eggs in the top, they roll down the skelter and you take them from the bottom, so the eggs will be used in the freshness order in which they are laid.  This view is looking down from the top - I think it makes a nice pattern.

Get Low:

Some little Basil plants growing in a baked bean can.  The camera is on the ground.

Own choice: 

Misty early morning from my craft room window.  Because I don't sleep well, I often have lovely early morning moments and see amazing sunrises.  This particular morning, above the mist the sky is blue, promising another lovely sunny day.

That's it for me this week.  I took lots of photos for this weeks inspiration and found it hard to choose ones that might interest you, the viewer.

Get Well Mouse

 

I hope this cute wee mouse will make the person receiving it smile.  I'm sure it is someones pet mouse.

I used nesting dies to cut the diamonds - the largest to cut the image and the smaller to cut the silver corners.  I like the way the corners aren't solid like a mat but kind of accentuate the angles.

Photo Challenge #8

Weather, key, house, corner, own choice.

Weather:  we are past the middle of summer now and it is so dry - we need rain.  During the week these black clouds rolled in and then out again but still no rain.

Then we got wind, which dried everything out even more.

Then sun and heat and more heat and mugginess.

So we got a lot of weather this past week but none of it useful.

Key:  A wee while ago I went to a crafting session held at the local library which was an introduction to jewellery making.  My creation involved a key.

House:  taken early in the morning just as the sun is coming up.  The tree is a flowering cherry so the seasonal photos will be quite different.

Corner:  here is a corner of my home office cupboard taken this morning (2.45am, can't sleep) as I sit here doing this journal.

Own choice:  our big, fat, juicy grapes.  I love the colour of this; all those lovely shades of grey-green.
