This is how it started off:
I wanted to keep the sparkly box as it was so the contents can be seen easily and it's so girly. I decided to give it to one of my granddaughters to keep her hair ties in, so I prettied it up with layers of doily and coloured Serena in mermaid colours (which just happen to be her favourite hair tie colours).
I added pearls - I'm sure all mermaids wear pearls.

Oh what a gorgeous box! I love the heart shape and pink sparkle and I am are your granddaughter is going to love such a pretty box to keep her hair ties (we call them bobbles) in :-) Very lovely and great recycling!
