Celebrate Diamonds

  The challenge is:















I love this die and this time I chose to put back some drop-outs cut from very sparkly silver card which gives a great texture.  The sentiment is cut from smooth metallic silver; a bit more subtle so the diamonds stand out.  The white card is lightly misted with frost shimmer.
I reckon this could be for an engagement (more diamonds!), wedding, anniversary or whatever.

Purple Poppet

Sock Puppet
A friend of mine has friends who go to India to work with children there, and they find puppets are a good way to communicate.  They asked if we could make some.
Here is one I made for them to take. It is my first go at this.
I have a lot of trouble with hot glue guns and seem to get more on me than on the project.  I got some ideas off the internet and used the bits that worked for me.
 It is all I have done this week apart from sleep as I had a bad fall on Tuesday hurting my back, hip and knee, and while I am still very ouchy, today I managed to make it up the stairs to work on it.
Hmmm maybe I could put some ears on it...
Maybe on the next one.

Shy Girl

This beautiful image is so inspiring.
I used a snippet of paper to piece her dress and coloured the rest with Copics.  I have deliberately left it without a  sentiment so I can use it for anything.

Doesn't she look sweet sitting sewing amongst the spring flowers?
I like these spring colours, and the flowering begins.  Spring always makes me want to sew, and now we are in September (spring here in NZ) I am gathering fabrics and patterns.  I also have a grand daughter (Rhiannon, 9) who wants to make herself a quilt.
I know for some people, Autumn is when they start thinking quilts, so this is for you too.

Apples

A sweet simple image with lovely juicy apples.
This is for one of my granddaughters.  Initially I put the sentiment on the inside, then tried it on the outside, but decided it was maybe better on the inside (leaves a bit of mystery).  What do you think?
I cut the front edge of the tub and inserted the apples, leaving the top edge free.  It's a cute stamp that comes with lots of separate things to put in the tub.

It says 'I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck'

Friendly Feather

A simple card with a simple message for a friend.

The feather is stamped onto card I had previously smooshed, then cut out.  The sentiment is using all my little Versamark cubes across the stamp starting with yellow and working to the outside edges.

the Thinking Flower

Sometimes a flower will remind me of a person and I think this image is so like that.  As a gardener, you get cuttings from others and plant them in your garden, then each time you see it and even years later, that plant will still remind you of that person.

Feminine Floral

This is a gorgeous die but can look a bit flat and uninteresting so I used a background paper that was like velvet fabric with shadowed folds for more interest and a band of metal triangles that were some kind of border trim for a bit of shine.
