This week's painting at the weekly Seasons Art Class.   This is the third week on watercolours which I have found really difficult. It is a 14 week basic course trying all kinds of media and techniques.   I don't know what bird it is, certainly not from here.    Watercolour paint.

P.s. I found out it is a swallow tailed bee eater from sub-saharan Africa

iSpy #79 Week starting 10 July

 Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday). Get inspired!

This weeks prompts are: Shelf, selfie Quarterly, drinking, starts with W, your choice.

Shelf:  Who sits on the top shelf of the bookcase? Dusty of course!   ( I guess he could start with W for wood or maybe wabbit?)

Selfie Quarterly:  I am very self conscious and hate having photos taken, fortunately Ian makes me laugh and it seems to work out ok.

Drinking: no, not that sort of drinking, this is us having tea this morning.  I have a mug like this saying "desperate housewife" (but the writing has mostly washed off - maybe I have more cuppas than Ian?), so I took a photo of Ian's mug.

Starts with W:  Some of these are made by Ian on his lathe (the less polished ones); I love them gathered in this bowl of dried rose petals.

Your Choice: We were round at the old house last night selling some stuff, and while we were waiting for people I got this shot of the full moon reflected in a large puddle of collected rainwater.   We have had a lot of rain this week.

Each week, Lysha puts up a photographic challenge with prompts for us to look out for, then we share on Lysha's Saturday (my Sunday). Get inspired!

this weeks prompts are: sparkle, wet, rounded, banana, your choice.

Sparkle:  this is the sparkly part of a card I made this week.  It looks so sugary and delicious.

Wet:  the bird bath is now in it's new position under a flowering cherry tree and filled with water.  Hmmm haven't seen any birds use it yet.  For some reason birds sometimes bring stones and drop them in.  Does anyone know why?

Rounded:  a salvaged bottle that sits in the bathroom with lovely rounded lines.  I've had it for years, and just now when I photographed it, I had this idea to replace the ribbon with pearls ... wouldn't that be glam?

Banana:  today for lunch we had croissants with various fillings.  This is a dessert one - banana with chocolate sauce - yum.

Your choice:  This morning our new house is flooded with winter sun, so the sliders are open and the sunshine and gentle breeze are visiting.    So nice given that the forecast for the coming week is rain, cold, storms, and even snow in some places.

Bonjour Monsieur Le Chat

 

Monsieur Le Chat est sorti pour célébrer 14 Juillet - Bonne Fete Nationale!  Look closely at his baguette.  Made for a friend who speaks french; we were in the same tour group in France about 2017, seems so long ago now.  A town near us (Cambridge) is twinned with a french town (Le Quesnoy) and celebrates 14 July with french themed food and activities.
