Gnome Birthday

I made this for our son-out-law, who is starting out as a real estate agent.  I wanted it to look like a house for sale.  I like how he sits outside the frame.

The background is made using masking with sponged Distress Inks.

I stitched the panel applying the beading as I went.  The sentiment is double layered, inked with Versamark and then double clear-heat embossed.  The image is coloured with Copics and then coated with Versamark ink and clear embossed twice, then cut out and matted onto card with 3D foam.  I don't usually work in these colours but you must admit it is very crème caramel!  And with the double embossing it almost looks like you could lick it ...

MMmmmmm, of course there's cake at the Crafters Café - well at least a cake shaker card.

I cut the layers of the cake out with a craft knife and applied acetate to provide the front of the shaker, then foam tap onto a piece of blank white card, stamped with the sentiments for the back.  Then that was all put onto a base card with a striped ppaper mat.

A nice simple design in bold colours.  Although I didn't think about it when I made it, I just realized it uses both Colours-of-the-year: Pantone (coral) & Kona (aqua); and also opposites on the colour wheel.

What could be more feminine that a patchwork card and a woman with flowers in her hair?

Floral Blooming

I made this for the May cardswap within the NZ cardmakers group.  The topic is to use the bleach-an-image technique (as seen at Splitcoaststampers).

The peach flower is stamped with Versamark and clear embossed, the purple flower is stamped on dark blue card and embossed with black, the leaves stamped and embossed in dark green with clear embossing.  Then the bleach is applied within the embossed areas to get the desired effect.  After it's dry, coloured pencils are used to  give depth and shade. The blue flower and the leaves are cut out and attached with foam tape for a 3D look.  I also flicked a little bit of bleach on the coloured card to get a sprinkled look.  The sentiment is gold embossed.  The amazing thing is that when the bleach is applied the card can become a very different colour.
