Bee My Friend

A friendly bee visiting a honey source.   We are just coming into spring and the bees are out and about in the blossoms already.

I dicut the bee twice, once in vellum and once in yellow card; I cut the wings off the card  and the legs off the vellum and stuck them together, then used Copics to colour the bee.  I like how the ink bled into the card-  it makes the bee look fuzzy. Flower, bee and sentiment hexagon adhered on 3D foam.  Lots of snippets here plus a quick visit to the BITZ box on my desk.

Birthday Queen

I wanted a birthday card for our daughter and this image just looks like her.

The background:  I always have a piece of thick paper (about 160gsm) under my crafting mat and bring it out to use when I am inking things with Distress Inks to catch the over run.  I love the random effect, and it usually comes out nicely, then when it is at the right stage I use it and start another one.

Queen Bee

Bees are such busy creatures and there are humans like that too.  This is to appreciate such a person.

An inked stencil printed onto white card with Distress inks in blues and yellows, then spritzed to make it watercolour.    The diecut frame sits on top.  The tag is white card smooshed with Distress inks, then die cut, stamped and attached with 3D foam.   The sequins link the two areas.

Celebrating birthdays or anything else!

A strip of base card is masked and sponged with Distress Inks then spritzed.  The sentiment is stamped directly across it.  A beer mug is stamped on a tiny snippet of card that has been sponged with colour, then topped with 3D white frothy bubbles.

I cut the square frame out of the eastern-looking peachy embossed card, and placed the coloured image under it.  The tulle for the wine sentiment is cut into a cloud shape, glued to the sentiment and  stuck to the frame with 3D tape.  The birthday sentiment: the tulle is diecut with a circle die and stuck to the centre, topped with a pearl, then the whole thing stuck with 3D tape the bottom of the frame.  Her clothes are painted with WoS (click on to see the shimmer), the bubbles and edge of BD sentiment with Kindyglitz.

Birthday Flip

I made this for our grandson who has a birthday later in the week.  Kids seem to like fancy fold cards and cards that do something.  I put a cut out party pig inside the card - well isn't that what boys of 10 turn into after the birthday cake is cut?

Hello Birds

I love these birds who are so great to colour.

I needed a card to send to two of our grandchildren (Holly and Sam) in response to their formal invitation, explaining why we couldn't make it to their school grandies day and decided they would like these birds.

Grandies day, for those who aren't aware, is held once a year when grandparents are invited to school to see what their grandkids have been doing, read books in the library with them, look at their projects and may have lunch in the playground with them.  Often they have been working on special things that grandies need to interact with, e.g. geneology - last time we had to draw ourselves on their family tree!  Another time they had to teach us how to make origami bookmarks.

We really enjoy these and have another one coming up later this week for a different school in Tauranga (Rhiannon).
