Simple Wreath

 

I love this simple wreath, it's so elegant.  It was a magazine free stamp set and I have used it so much. Just changing things around makes it look quite different each time.

A little birdie

 

I'm not going to tell you what is inside.  I love this sentiment because it goes for all kinds of occasions.

The alcohol ink in the background is on acetate, very tricky to photograph and looks a bit washed out because of reflection I think... so there are more pics than usual.

The frame is several layers, white on top/black under, with inking, misting, dribbling, splattering, then an underneath black frame to give some depth.  I love how the misters, inks, sprays etc have interacted with each other.  Birdcage & bird are also a few layers thick; I also cut out one of the bars of the cage to let the bird out!

The base card is stamped on directly with a vintage script and splattered.

Dove Wreath

 

I've been having a bit of fun finding out how many different looks I can get with this wreath stamp.  Quite a few apparently.  I used the partial embossing technique to get the blank spot in the middle of the EF for the wreath.

Christmas Cone Red

This year, instead of little stockings, I made Christmas cones for my special people filled with little treats.  I saw pics on the internet and had a lot of fun designing my own versions.  So far I have made five, all different.  What a great way to use up all those bits of gorgeous lace and fabric that are too small for anything else.   Made from an 8" square.

I also made the tag using some cute christmas paper.

Hungry Gull

 

Another try at mixed media.  This is a stamp I just got;  I love the sketchiness of the drawing and its a bit quirky too. For those in other countries,  chips = french fries, fries. 

Is this really what gulls are thinking?  Do they really have a choice about what they eat?  Do they prefer pie or chips?  Or is it wishful thinking?

I made the background using a round sponge blender with white chalk ink, splattering silver mister and black acrylic paint.  I dipped the bottom in versamark and gold EP.  The sentiment and bollard is torn from an encyclodedia (which I was given), painted lightly with white gesso, inked & stamped over.  The gull is coloured with copics and cut out.

Birthday Garden

 

This is for a gardening friend; let's join her in the garden for a cuppa.   I chose the p.paper because it looks a bit like a trellis.  This is the first time I have tried this fold.

I made this for the Crafty Chefs monthly recipe December, which is:

MUST USE: Gems/pearls, joy-fold or more-than-1-fold, colour green, ribbon.

CAN USE: Follow a tutorial, hand colouring, stencil paste.

I cooked them all except the stencil paste, which was optional.

Gold Magic

 

 I like the simple design and the beautiful stamp which was a freebie from a magazine by Practical Publishing.  The limited colour palette makes it look elegant.  I used a partial embossing technique to get the texture on all the card except where the wreath is.

Kiwi Birthday

 Scribbles - Layer it Up - November

We have friends with a Kiwifruit Orchard, so this will be for one of their birthdays.  Also New Zealanders are known as Kiwis.  So ... from all of us kiwis.

The background is printed onto paper from Lozzy.  The frame around the kiwis is coloured with dull gold Sharpie pen, and the little loopy doodles attached are coloured with metallic gold Stardust pen. Edge inked with D'Inks.  The kiwis are printed onto patterned paper ( sorry, I don't know here I got this), and cut out.  On is raised on 3D foam, the rest are stuck down onto the background.  The skin edges of the kiwifruit are coloured with dull gold Sharpie pen, and the centers with WoS.  Here is a kiwifruit made into a kiwi!
