I made this at a demo class.  I can't remember the names of the materials that were provided.  The only ones I remember is texture paste and Opal Dust. The white bits hanging off the bottom are lace.  Techniques used:  stamping, stencilling, heat embossing, collage, inking, painting.

Slimline seems to be in vogue at the moment, and the mousies like to be right there.  And they like to have fun ... sliding down the flowers sounds like fun, right?

I doodled the edge with a black pen.  I thought it went nicely with the handwritten looking sentiment.

I printed the image onto white card, coloured it and then, with a craft knife, cut the main flowers part-way round (so I could lift them).   I coloured the cut edge to match the dark blue background.

Love Elephants

 

This is made by Rhiannon (12 years old) .  Nonna lets me use her blog to show my cards.  I am staying with her for the holidays.  I used marker pens to colour and  it is the first time I have done heat embossing.  Nonna lets me use her stuff.

i Spy #17

 iSpy #17  Lysha's iSpy challenge 2021

Prompts this week are:  backyard, working it, together, light, own choice.   All taken on my Samsung phone.

BACKYARD/Spring quarterly:   It's not spring here in NZ it's late autumn.   We have just finished building a new henhouse (the larger grey structure) and merged our two flocks into one.  Although I still love our hot pink henhouse it was too small for nine birds.  We used the little green henhouse for raising the chicks... now they are nearly ready to lay.

WORKING IT:  Ian putting the window in the new henhouse door, the finishing touch.

TOGETHER:  This was FUN.  We had granddaughter Rhiannon from Tauranga staying for the school holidays and our son Paul and his family turned up to help us with some of the big gardening work.  Here is my hubby Ian with Rhiannon and Sam (both 12) (cousins who don't get together very often) on the trailer taking a load of prunings to dump.

LIGHT:  Light as a feather.  At the moment my hens are moulting and I am finding feathers all over the place.  Here is one from Roxie, my beautiful Barred Rock hen.

OWN CHOICE:  My winter garden is coming along nicely, these are pak choi that in the last week have almost doubled in size.  I like the pattern they make with their beautiful veins.

Here's an extra Ian took of me with Roxie (see feather above):  We took the opportunity when introducing the hens to their new home to give them their regular beauty treatment.  They get dusted with diatomaceous earth for lice and their legs oiled to stop them getting scaly.  I'm sure they feel lovely afterwards.   Of course I get covered with the white powdered D.Earth as well, even though I'm prepared with a hat and apron.  It must work because I don't have lice or scaly legs!!

As well as cardmaking, my guilty pleasure is quilting.  Most of my friends are crafty so it will be easy to find someone to send this to.  I printed the image twice and popped up the head so it stood out.

Rainbow Unicorn

 

Made by Rhiannon (aged 12). 

I made this using nonna's stuff.  I coloured the unicorn with pens and put opal dust on.  The flowers in the background have silver kindyglits on them.  The Unicorn is from TiddlyInks.

iSpy #16

 iSpy #16   - April 2021

This week's prompts are:  Kitchen sink, Flower, Up, Mixed, Own choice.

KITCHEN SINK:   My first thought for this one was - what the?  Then it resolved itself naturally when I was making spagbol for dinner one night and had brought in stuff from the garden, dumped it in the sink to wash and put it up to drain - and had an AHA! "the kitchen sink" moment.

FLOWER: This was easy, I'm always taking flower pics.  This is a wood anemone growing in the wild part of the garden.  I love the light on this - late afternoon.  Click on to enlarge and see the velvety texture of the petals.

UP:  the mini chandelier in our nook.  I picked this up somewhere ages ago and have taken it with us whenever we moved house.  This little light fixture gives me a smile every time I walk past - so wacky and cheerful and FUN.

MIXED:  This is my fabric scrap bin.  This is the one my grandkids are allowed to raid, and sometimes even my friends who want a little bit of this or that to finish a project.

OWN CHOICE:  It has been a busy week - I have been away with my quilty friends at the beach for a few days stitching.  This is Kawhia upper harbour just after sunrise on Thursday morning from the deck.  It is so nice sitting out there with your first morning cuppa... well, any time of day actually.

HM Butter-Flying

 

I always dreamed I could fly.  Sadly, when I woke up I couldn't.  This mousey is having fun (but I can't tell how much fun the butterfly is having), and what a great way to do with someone else doing all the work!  I don't know f I could find a butterfly big enough for me to do this.
