The challenge is Anything Goes with option of Birds.  I wish a bird would take me for a ride!

To make the background I stamped DI onto an acrylic block, spritzed it, and dipped the card into it bit by bit, keeping the image clear.  The image is coloured with Copics.  I chose the p.paper to go with the colours of the image (I love green and blue together), and measured a triangle across one corner to apply the metallic washi.

Butterfly de jour

 

The music sheet was coloured using the bubble technique and purple acrylic paint.  The black panel is stencilled using white chalk ink and splattered with gold paint.  Gold glitter paste leaves and a double diecut butterfly in two shade of purple, then edges inked complete the card.

Fabulous Bird

 

Another lot of bubble technique coloured music sheet - it makes a great bird.  Brushed gold metallic paper embossed. I untwisted a piece of big twine to make a branch.

I love blue and green together and the plaid paper just called to me.

I made this for our 13 yo grandson Jackson who loves clocks.  Serious on the outside with a bit of fun inside (he loves getting interactive cards).

Thinking Cat

 

I made this for a man who is undergoing a lengthy course of treatment at the moment.  I like the colour challenge of navy, mustard and brown - it seems very masculine.

The cat is stamped on patterned paper and then on a layer of card; the flowers are stamped on white card, then all fussy cut and assembled.  I put on googly eyes for fun, and distressed the edges of the brown card for texture.  Gold heat embossed sentiment and gold dots for sparkle.

Starts with R: haha! a Rock concert: Rocktober!

Band:  a rubber band ball.  Who sits there for hours making these balls?  I think the close up looks a bit like a cabbage or the centre of a rose or flower?

Selfie quarterly: enough said.

Bent: I spotted this water jug with a bent spout at the service station when we filled up with petrol.  To start with this was the hardest prompt and by the end of the day I had found lots - a bent road barrier, bent light standards, smashed car etc. but this was by far the cutest.  I love the drip just sitting on the tap.  Psst... the water carrier looks a bit like a goose doesn't it?

Your choice: the baby double white cherry blossom at the end of the garden just coming into bud... most of the single cherry blossoms are nearly over.  It was planted in the autumn and looks so interesting from below.

Sew Special

 

I made this for one of the Quilty Girls.  I made a bookmark using a card I had previously coloured and splattered and used most of.  It just needed the stamp and then I sandwiched a scrap of  fancy  ribbon between.  The holder is partial-cut circle dies. Some yellow p.paper borders, one stamped with the gold-embossed sentiment.  Some stamped and fussy-cut accessories, embroidery floss and a charm.  Another photo with the bookmark removed - it still looks ok without the bookmark in place.

Get Well Butterfly

 

The butterfly diecut was laid on the white panel and daubed with paints, moved, then daubed with paint, covering the butterfly as well.  The butterfly was spritzed to smooth out the colour.  Great fall colour.

Autumn Weave

 

I didn't just want to do autumn leaves so used snippet leftover strips that I wove and placed under negative leaf die cuts.  I think it takes the leaves to another level.  I also heat embossed the edges in gold, and vintaged the sentiment with D'Inks.  I put packaging tape over the sentiment for gloss before diecutting.

Musical Bird

 

The black background is made using Letterpress technique with an embossing folder and gold ink, then splattered with gold ink.  The bird is diecut from card:  bronze metallic card, and snippets of leftover card coloured with Distress Inks then splattered with black paint.  A snippet of music is coloured using the bubble technique, then torn randomly.  Lots of shades of orange in this.

New Grandma

 

Well I say if you're going to make a mess make a big one!  I started off making bubble paper for a NZ cardswap challenge... tidied up ...  made the card.  Then a couple of days later the compulsion to make more .. what's that about?  However it does make a bit of a mess so I decided to go all out and made a stack for future cards.  The ribbon is a sheer one and goes horizontally under the image - hard to see in the photo but looks super IRL.

Made for my hairdresser who is a very proud, excited, obsessed first-time new grandma.  The baby is Lola Jean; isn't that a lovely name?

This weeks prompts are:  Seasonal, Outfit quarterly, starts with F, Listen, Same Vantage monthly.

Seasonal:  It's SPRING at last all the blossoms are out.  Along the avenue  these young cherry blossom trees look fabulous lit up (taken 5.00am).  As you can see on the road, the rain we've had over the past few days has knocked the blossoms around.

Outfit quarterly:  What I was wearing today (an at-home comfort day).

Starts with F:  has to be Fungi.  I spotted this by the path when I was out walking.

Listen:  to the baby grand in the clubhouse.

Same Vantage monthly:  the park at the end of our street; some new grass has just been sown.  You can see cherry blossom trees in the background, the oak trees have new leaves, while other trees are only just starting to green up.  I don't count the evergreens which are: the hedge in front is griselina, the trees along the fenceline are citrus and the 3 upright ones are Nikau Palms.
