Birds just like to have fun

I love watching birds.  They are just like humans really with similar behaviours.  In our garden, we have a female blackbird called Dottie (with one white feather on her back)and an old male called Mulder (going grey at the edges), both clearly identifiable by their markings.  We also have two male pheasants - a young and old male - one bright and one faded, not to mention a lot of other birds that all look the same as each other.

For this card I stamped a card for the background, then carefully trimmed it into three layers and matted it onto green card using 3D foam.

Wind in my hair

Picture Inspiration is the challenge at Incy Wincy this time. See what the design team have done and be inspired, here:  incywincydesigns

Sponsor A Day For Daisies provided this beautiful image, get it here:

As requested FYI: I printed her onto white card, then holding down a deckle edge die as a mask, sponged and blended distress inks (Milled lavender, dusty concord, tattered rose, victorian velvet, tumbled glass) around the outside of the die, taking card not to cover the image area at all.  I covered the image area and spritzed with water, dabbing off the excess, allowed it to dry, then coloured the image with Copics.  The tiny flowers are drop-outs from a bicycle die.

Dreamcatcher

The challenge at Incy Wincy Designs is a photo inspiration: incywincydesigns check it out  now!

And I have used sponsor Little Blue Button Stamps image called Dreamcatcher 3, get it here: lbbstamps-dreamcatcher-3-digital-stamp

I made the background using Distress Oxide Inks in four colours sponged on, then blended, then misted until I had the right amount of speckle and blotch.  The image is coloured with Copics with lots of shading and blending. It is then die cut with some parts of the image cut out first and hung over the die. And of course you need stars if you're doing some dreaming; the stars are clear iridescent so only show up in certain lights.

CuddleBuns

Tic Tac Toe is the theme over at the Crafters Café - grab a cuppa and join us here:  crafterscafe

Our sponsor is Creative Bugs (thanks CB) and you can get this super CuddleBuns gets Squished - image here:  creative-bug-digis

TicTacToe: I used the diagonal line: white-pp-embossing.

Everyone needs a hug now and then!

Cuddlebuns and Bunbun are both printed onto snippets of p'papers, and partly coloured with Copics.  The printed/embossed white card is also matted onto pp to make a colourful border (this is how I sometimes use my 'ugly' papers).

Sparkle Wherever

The Crafters Café theme is TicTacToe, such a fun way to get inspiration - here: crafterscafe

Bugaboo supplied the super summery image,  get it here:   bugaboostamps

I chose the diagonal line Black-PP-Yellow.  I softly coloured the background of the image with distress inks sponged. Diecut the pp and a foam sheet to act as a spacer for the shaker.  The embossing powder is sparkly too.
I like the silhouettes with the butterflies and hummingbirds attending the flowers.

Dragonfly Thoughts

Sometimes when you're sitting outside on a summer day, little winged things come to where you are.  Have you ever wondered where they came from and where they're going?  Do they find us strange? Do they check us out to see what we are?  Maybe that's why they come for a visit!

I had previously made the background by using distress inks/gold mist and the cling wrap technique.  I used the inks in a rainbow style layout and then spritzed with gold mist.  Click on the detail pics for a closer look.

I used a snippet of the made card, left over from another project, and stamped this lovely dragonfly in black ink.

Hot Tub Mice

I have just got the Joanna Sheen House Mouse cd and this is my first card using images from it.
I wanted it to look like they were in a secluded grove enjoying the tub; these tiny mice look like they're having fun together in their tiny hot tub.  The flowers are slightly shaded using distress inks.

Bionic Bag

I have been sewing this bag with two of my friends for 3 days.  Jan has made two, Judy has made four, and now that it's finished I never want to make another!  I nearly bust my machine; at one stage you are sewing through about 10 layers.
That said, it is a super bag, compact, useful and fits anything I would need to go to classes or stitching groups.

The back of the bag sits up and the front lays out open like a tray.  In between the zipped pockets are spaces for stuff like scissors.  The triangular pouch is for threads and scraps - it folds flat.

And there's even a wee pocket for my craft specs.

Thanks Jan and Judy, I would never have figured it out using the instructions alone.  Now that it's finished, I'm glad I made it, but I still won't ever make another!
