SCC day2 Darling Stripes

Day 2 of Spring Card Camp - stripes.

Now, I love stripes (I love dots and checks too), but have never made my own like this before.   Hmmm, might just have to have a go at tartan/plaid...

... and I had this big, bad, black stamp just waiting to be used on something bold like this.  I think I've had it about a year and never used it.


I got bored with the straight edges on the masking tape, so tore it along the roll and mixed it up a bit... so, some straight, some torn.

SCC Day1 Delish

SpringCardCamp Day 1: Marvellous Masking
I missed the first 8 days of Spring Card Camp, so I am going back to catch up.

I don't have big masking tape or big post-it notes, so I used a stencil shape instead.

I chose a pear shape, sponged it with D.Inks and stamped with sepia and black Versafine inks, & versacolor on the leaf and base card.  I drew the pips.

I debated whether to leave it plain or add the sentiment because I didn't want the sentiment to be the star.  What do you think?

SpringCardCamp - day 9 cloudgazing

I have just joined the online SpringCardCamp at day 9, so have a bit of catching up to do.  However I decided to start at today's which is cloudgazing... thinking of ways to use our materials to get different results than the original intended use.

I struggled to find a stamp I could use then when I opened up the box with this set in,  it leapt out at me,  the wave/moustache!  The stamp is a holiday island stamp from BoBunny.

I  used the wave for a moustache and the palm trees for hair and eyebrows.  To start with I diecut an oval for the face and sponged it with Distress Inks in 3 colours.  I made the nose and ears using the tiny fish stamp, and the sun in both sizes as the eyes, and turned the outside circles into glasses.  I then drew a line to define and fussy-cut around the edge.  The eyes and moustache are coloured with Copics, the shirt and bow tie free-cut.  I will put a sentiment on when I know who the card is for.

Hibiscus Purple

I made this for a distant friends birthday.  I did some experimenting with an inlaid die panel.  Used up several different bits/snippets of purple to cut and inlay, which made a more interesting flower I think.

The Dancing Pig

Gotta love the cuteness here, and it's a one layer card!  Another one to cheer up my daughter.

This is a one layer card.   I digitally layered and printed out the whole image, then used a masking technique to colour the background and sponge over the sentiment in the jar.  Spritzed the distress inks.  The dancing pig is coloured with Copics.

Box of Piggies

I love these little piggies, it was difficult keeping most of them in the box, they were so wriggly and kept wanting to get out for cupcakes!

I made this for a NZ cardswap which had to use an ATC sized panel provided by the previous swapper.  I made it into a box full of piggies.

Quarantine Hair

I'm sure most of us who have regular haircuts with short hair are now feeling a bit desperate.  I do know I trimmed the bit that flops over my eyes and Ian trimmed the fine ratty bits at the back (which I don't have to look at).  However (depending on whether we go down to level 2 lockdown) my hairdresser has phoned and made a tentative appointment for later in the month. YAY!

 I made this for my daughter who has a salon in Auckland.  As well as phone calls, I have been sending her a fun card every week as she is extremely stressed and worried about her business and staff being out of action for six weeks.

Grad Dream Big

This says it all for the new grad.
In NZ our graduation ceremonies tend to take place in Feb-March-April so a lot of graduands missed out on a ceremony owing to the corona virus lockdown.  However, that doesn't mean they need to miss out on being celebrated!


This is the hood colour of our local Waikato University , but would be good for anyone as it is such a positive colour.

Crushed

A doily or a mandala.

At times like this we all need to stay calm and accept that life is different right now ... both complicated and simpler   - depends how you look at it!

This uses the cling-film technique to colour both the background and the card the doily is diecut from.

I used gold and silver acrylic paint with some iridescent medium mixed in.  The sentiment is stamped on kraft card.
